Anna Wintour Reveals Vogue's Online Archive on CBS

Posted by kgranero 4:45pm GMT

Vogue EIC Anna Wintour paid a visit to CBS Sunday Morning to talk about some of the magazine's most notorious covers, including Anna's first (which featured a model wearing jeans and a sweater and was so casual that printers thought it was a mistake) and that graced by Madonna, who being considered unsuitable for the high-society magazine at the time proved a hit, as well as the magazine's online archive, which debuted last Wednesday.

The archive, documenting 120 years of Vogue publications in the form of 400,000 pages (including advertisements), features the first-ever Vogue issue from 1892 and, while significantly lighter than its print equivalent, costs a hefty $1,575 (the price of approx. 315 magazines in today's time).

Can't afford the digital down payment? Vogue subscribers will have the opportunity to access a select portion of the site down the road.

Style Showdown: Brit Marling vs. Anna Wintour

Posted by babu 3:55pm GMT

Director and actress Brit Marling took a minimalistic approach to styling her partial-leather Balenciaga dress during the 2011 Los Angeles Film Festival.

Anna Wintour spruced up the naughty-meets-nature dress with a colorful necklace, shades and a clutch (opting for nude heels) at the 2011 Green Auction back in March.

I like how Anna took ownership of her look by styling it with a bevy of accessories, whereas Brit really let this dress wear her.

Who wore Balenciaga better?

Banana Prints: Trend or Foe?

Posted by babu 11:07am GMT

Fashion influences like Anna Wintour and Giovanna Battaglia are adding a touch of tropical to their everyday styles with banana-print skirts.

While Prada is responsible for sparking the trend (both skirts shown are from Prada's Spring 2011 RTW collection, which also features a peel-baring button-up), fast fashion brands have been quick to jump on the banana wagon (get the effect with Topshop's Banana Print Leggings).

What's your take on banana prints?

Red-Carpet Recap: WWD Magazine 100th Anniversary Party

Posted by babu 4:20pm GMT

Fanciful and fur-clad celebs flocked to WWD Magazine's 100 Anniversary Party in New York this week.

My favorite looks included those of British model Karen Elson (who ravished in a red, silk gown with a large bow and heavy draping from the Marc Jacobs Spring 2011 collection) and Jessica Szohr (who rocked a black jumpsuit and leopard booties, which I've been seeing EVERYWHERE lately!).

Which star's party style is sexiest?

Style Showdown: Anna Wintour vs. Jessica Alba

Posted by babu 6:12pm GMT

Vogue editor-in-chief Anna Wintour was spotted in a velour Prada dress at the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in New York this week. Perhaps she thought enough time had passed for us to forget that Jessica Alba wore the same dress in late Sept. Does she know who she's dealing with?!

While both ladies paired the dress with black tights and heels, I like how Jessica kept her neck bare, as Anna's necklace duo distracts attention away from the bold, rosette print.

Which leading lady is prettier in Prada?

Fashion Formula: Anna Wintour's A Repeat Offender

Posted by babu 10:54pm GMT

Looks like someone forgot to do more shopping during Fashion’s Night Out a few weeks ago.

Super style-maven and Vogue magazine's tippity-top editor Anna Wintour wore a unique snakeskin coat for the start of Paris Fashion Week today, but did she think we would not remember THAT coat from her appearances at the recent Milan, London and New York fashion weeks?

At least, in London, Anna accessorized with a dainty Blackberry, which helps balance the coat's subtle print (we kid), while in New York City at the Proenza Schouler show, she chose our favorite type of accessory: red carpet celebrity Rachel McAdams who seems a bit put off by the python pelt.

Would you ever wear Anna Wintour's slithery coat?

Anna Wintour Trades Couture for a T-Shirt

Posted by babu 4:14pm GMT

Vogue's top editor Anna Wintour sported –gasp!– a $30 T-shirt at Bloomingdale’s in support of her successful fashion stimulus shopping event Fashion’s Night Out on September 10th.

While not all of us can get away with hitting the town in a simple tee, Anna pulled off this elegant black-and-white ensemble by pairing her shirt with a Prada skirt.

Get your own Fashion’s Night Out T-shirt and forty percent of your purchase is donated to the National September 11 Memorial & Museum fund.
