Dare to Wear: Elizabeth Banks

Posted by babu 4:21pm GMT

I'm not sure if it was the size or the fit, but Elizabeth Banks' color-blocked Prada dress looked like it was about to fall off at the "Our Idiot Brother" premiere in Los Angeles.

Not only did Elizabeth's dress appear to be hanging on by a string (make that a tacky, bugle-bead collar), but the actress paired it with a color-coordinated clutch which, if you've been reading this blog for a while, you know is one of my red-carpet peeves.

Would you dare to wear this look?

Style Showdown: Kristin Davis vs. Elizabeth Stewart

Posted by babu 3:20pm GMT

They say imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, which might explain why Kristin Davis was spotted cozying up to Elizabeth Stewart, who was wearing the same Prada dress worn by Kristin just a little over a month earlier, at the P.S. Arts Bag Lunch and Dior Beauty event in Santa Monica this week.

While both ladies looked beautiful in the breezy maxi dress, I like how Elizabeth's skinny belt and delicate shoe pairing led to a more refined look, whereas Kristin's strappy sandals came off as a bit clunky, so I'm giving this one to her.

One Designer, Two Ways: Prada

Posted by babu 1:09pm GMT

Kristin Davis wore a colorful, shell-print maxi dress from the Prada Resort 2011 collection at the "Born To Be Wild 3D" screening in New York.

If you recall, Rihanna was the first to debut the breezy print while attending a Miu Miu fashion show in Paris.

While I'm still on the fence about Rihanna's blue sock/red satin pump pairing, I think her playful styling better captured the vacation-bound essence of this dress. I also prefer the plunge neckline, as the rest of the dress is fairly conservative.

Which style is the right way, and which one needs to hit the highway? You tell me in the comment section below.

Style Steal: Jen Aniston's Metallic Prada Dress

Posted by babu 1:14pm GMT

My jaw almost dropped when I first spotted Jennifer Aniston in this metallic, corseted Prada number, aka "the comeback dress," at the Women In Film's Crystal Lucy Awards last year, which is why I was excited to find an almost identical dress for sale at Lipsy London.

“Nine” Premiere Red Carpet Is a Perfect 10

Posted by babu 10:24am GMT

Did you expect the all-star cast of the anticipated song-and-dance extravaganza film “Nine” to walk the red carpet in anything less than all-out glam style?

Penelope Cruz’s red gown was stunning and the strong shade seems like a such wonderful nod to her Spanish roots.

Californian Kate Hudson was “party in the front” and “serious glam” from behind in her Chanel show-stopper.

Soft-spoken Nicole Kidman chose quieter Prada LBD, while Fergie (in Marchesa) and Marion Cotillard got the same memo on wearing a “long white dress” for last night’s NYC premiere.

All the stars of the film were adorned last night in stunning Chopard jewelry, but Fergie’s 15 carat white diamond and white gold cuff that receives the Best Bling Award.

Whose "Nine" premiere style is a perfect 10?

Rule Breakers or Trend Makers: Lingerie Looks

Posted by babu 12:19am GMT

Chloë Sevigny and Zoe Saldana share more than just slightly unusual names and both hailing from New York.

Obviously, both stars also have a love of Prada and the latest bra-friendly looks that walked the designer's Spring 2010 runway when they showed up at the recent Prada book launch in L.A. in ensembles that left little to the imagination.

Would you try this latest lingerie-inspired look?

Style Showdown: Anna Wintour vs. Jessica Alba

Posted by babu 6:12pm GMT

Vogue editor-in-chief Anna Wintour was spotted in a velour Prada dress at the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in New York this week. Perhaps she thought enough time had passed for us to forget that Jessica Alba wore the same dress in late Sept. Does she know who she's dealing with?!

While both ladies paired the dress with black tights and heels, I like how Jessica kept her neck bare, as Anna's necklace duo distracts attention away from the bold, rosette print.

Perfect Party Dresses at the MOCA 30th Anniversary Gala

Posted by babu 2:44pm GMT

Ladies, the holiday party season is upon us, and with New Year’s Eve on the heels of all those December festivities, it’s time to get all your party frocks in a row.

To help inspire you, here is a round up of the stars who sparkled at the MOCA (Museum of Contemporary Art) 30th Anniversary bash in L.A. on November 14 over the weekend.

Kate Beckinsale went for all out glam in a floor-grazing Andrew Gn silk dress for Spring 2010 with draping to die for and a teal shade that is so flattering for brunettes.

Christina Ricci’s Prada Spring 2010 LBD is a great example of understated chic with its retro bell shape and luxe fabric.

Eva Mendes’ tromp de l'oeil Miu Miu Spring 2010 dress combines a peachy feminine shade with black and crystal accents for a dress that would be a great investment to wear to parties year-round.

For those of you who have hit the gym all year, it’s time to show off your hard work with a skin-tight sheath like Ciara’s modern cut-out mini and perfect party shoes by Christian Louboutin.

But one of my personal favorite dresses from last night was Kate Bosworth’s versatile silk Proenza Schouler frock (Spring 2010) that looks amazing with Kate’s pointed patent heels, but I can’t wait to try the look with over-the-knee boots, tights and a well-cut menswear-inspired blazer.

Whose party frock do you prefer?

Dare to Wear: Hilary Duff

Posted by babu 3:25pm GMT

Hilary Duff was spotted wearing a red and blue checkered Prada sheath and Christian Louboutin ankle boots while filming “The Business of Falling in Love” in Manhattan this week.

While I love the way this dress fits the actress, I can't shake the feeling that she looks like she's wearing a designer picnic tablecloth (I'm also not big on that brooch choice--looks tacky against the print). FYI, I've been keeping a close eye on Hilary in "Gossip Girl" and haven't been too impressed by her wardrobing on the series either.

Would you dare to wear this look?
