Celeb NYE Style Roundup

Posted by kgranero 5:38pm GMT

Stars brought on the glitz in a variety of shimmery styles while hosting New Year's Eve bashes in New York and Los Angeles.

While Kourtney K. showed off her maternity curves in a plunging wrap dress, sis Kim got leggy in a white key-hole bodice.

Fergie looked like a walking disco ball in a metallic mosaic number, and Lady Gaga took the stage in a bodysuit with heavy embellishments throughout.

Which star's NYE style is your fave?

Colored Leather Coats: Trend or Foe?

Posted by kgranero 12:48pm GMT

Celebs like Blake Lively, Lady Gaga and Evan Rachel Wood are battling the cold-weather wardrobe blues with brightly hued leather coats.

While I admire these celebs' bold approaches to outerwear dressing, I think bright colors prove a better (and more comfortable) fit for felts, wools and winter accessories.

What's your take on colored leather coats?

5 Halloween-Proof Celebs

Posted by kgranero 5:03pm GMT

Many celebs seize the opportunity to go undercover on Halloween, but for these leading ladies, playing dress up is par for the everyday course:

1. Lady Gaga: From meat dresses to Marie Antoinette-worthy ensembles, there is always a trick up this performer's sleeve.

2. Nicki Minaj: It's not unusual to find this modern-day Rainbow Brite splashed in color or "wigging" out.

3. Jessie J: From barely-there to out there, the pop singer's unique ensembles are off the map.

4. Paloma Faith: There are few toppers this hat-hawking British performer hasn't tried.

5. Katy Perry: Whether covered in sushi or broken records, Katy never misses the opportunity to get in on the themed fun.

Did I miss anyone? Weigh in on your favorite costumed celebs below!

Heel-less Shoes: Trend or Foe?

Posted by kgranero 1:17pm GMT

Think it's tricky getting around (especially in the city) in five-inch heels? Imagine being lifted six inches (or more) off the ground without any heel!

Among celebs braving the "no-stem strut" (which, to me, looks more painful than it does posh) are Victoria Justice, Lady Gaga and Victoria Beckham.

What's your take on heel-less shoes?

Color-Coordinated Hair and Clothing: Trend or Foe?

Posted by kgranero 4:27pm GMT

In a world where matching separates have taken the backseat to a turn-table of patterns and color-blocking, celebs like Katy Perry, Nicki Minaj and Lady Gaga are making their mark in monotones, going as far as to color-coordinate their strands with the rest of their ensembles.

I have to admit I find this trend a tad liberating when considering the day when a woman would go through great lengths to find a dye that best matched her natural shade and then schedule touch-ups accordingly.

That said, I would file this one in the "Don't try this at home" folder unless you can invest in a few good wigs (and don't plan on sitting in on any corporate meetings any time soon).

What's your take on color-coordinated hair?

Hollywood Obsession: Houndstooth

Posted by kgranero 5:20pm GMT

Just two years after the houndstooth hysteria fueled by Alexander McQueen's Fall 2009 collection (left) took place, celebrities like Lady Gaga and Gwyneth Paltrow (the laundry list continues) are once again getting into the head-to-toe houndstooth habit (no doubt thanks to the checker-centric wildfire that has been Salvatore Ferragamo's Fall 2011 collection (middle).

See celebs wearing Ferragamo (and more designers who made the checkpoint) in Hot Celeb Trend: Houndstooth.

Style Showdown: Anna Faris vs. Lady Gaga

Posted by kgranero 12:11pm GMT

Just days after we witnessed the "Gaga Gone Glam" transformation at the iHeartRadio Music Festival, Anna Faris followed suit in the same Moschino peplum number for the "What's Your Number?" screening in New York.

While both ladies looked polished to perfection in this waist-cinched sheath, Miss Gaga's glitzy garnishing sealed her first place fate.

Style Showdown: Anna Dello Russo vs. Lady Gaga vs. Teresa Palmer

Posted by kgranero 3:28pm GMT

Just when I thought this houndstooth Salvatore Ferragamo dress had had its last hoorah, Anna Dello Russo got cheeky in the checkered phenomena at the Bottega Veneta show during Milan Fashion Week.

While she didn't go as far as to wear a matching hat and sunglasses (a la Lady Gaga), the editor-at-large at Vogue Japan did opt for the matching clutch and color-coordinated pumps, completing her look with a giant rose topper.

Jayma Mays (far right) kept her look clean with a minimalistic pump and box clutch.

Posted by kgranero 2:58pm GMT

From Lady Gaga (in Moschino) to Marissa Tomei (in Preen), peplum waists have been popping up (literally!) everywhere lately (including numerous collections debuted at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Spring 2012).

Test drive the trend (for less) with the Peplum Knit Top, $17.80, forever21.com.

Will you try this trend?
