Dare to Wear: Janet Jackson

Posted by babu 12:57pm GMT

Janet Jackson took a stab at jewel-tone color-blocking in an emerald, ruby and sapphire ensemble designed by Haider Ackermann at the 2011 amfAR’s Cinema Against AIDS Gala.

While I like the idea behind her multi-colored creation, I can't get past wanting to jump in this photo and tuck in her blouse. I'm also convinced the train is a little too dramatic for the rest of her look.

Dare to Wear: Charlotte Gainsbourg

Posted by babu 3:05pm GMT

Charlotte Gainsbourg proved the huge cloud hanging over Kirsten Dunst's head (and body) at the "Melancholia" premiere during the Cannes Film Festival, where the very pregnant actress shocked onlookers in what appeared to be negligee.

As if her look weren't revealing enough, she also wore a see-through bralette.

Dare to Wear: Deena Cortese

Posted by babu 3:52pm GMT

Looks like someone's cooking up trouble!

"Jersey Shore" star Deena Nicole Cortese proved a walking peep-show in an apron picturing a naked David statue while filming in Florence, Italy this week.

She topped off her "work of art" with a Kentucky Derby-style bonnet and flip flops.

Dare to Wear: Mischa Barton

Posted by babu 1:40pm GMT

Mischa Barton, who's taken a lot of flack regarding her curious sense of style in the past, looked like a work of (children's) art in a colorful kimono accented with a flower, feather and zipper-clad hair piece, and neon makeup (pink eyebrows included) at "The Goldberg Sisters" Special Benefit Performance for Japan Relief in Los Angeles.

She completed her look with a bejeweled, construction-paper pendant that read "With Love MB." Should we excuse her latest looksince there was so much "heart" in it?

Dare to Wear: Lady Gaga

Posted by babu 2:22pm GMT

Lady Gaga looked like she was wearing a penguin suit in a shapely, black and white contraption (paired with a black veil) yesterday in London.

At least, while channeling an aquatic bird, she was fully covered, which is more than can be said of her last ensemble.

Dare to Wear: Blake Lively

Posted by babu 1:41pm GMT

Blake Lively
got leggy (big surprise!) in a sequin Chanel blazer and tulip skirt at the recent Chanel Resort 2012 presentation in France.

While the fitted blazer proved a great fit for the "Green Lantern" actress, her "designer diaper" of a skirt distracted from the rest of her look.

Dare to Wear: Cheryl Cole

Posted by babu 2:55pm GMT

Cheryl Cole was a walking color-block DON'T at recent auditions for "The X Factor" in Los Angeles.

While "The X Factor" judge and singer had the right idea when she decided to pair a tangerine Oscar de la Renta blouse with purple Diane von Furstenberg pants, it seems as though she forgot one of the classic color-blocking rules: When combining two or more colors, make sure the cut and style of your ensemble is streamlined so as to not overcomplicate (and ruin) an already-busy outfit.

I also would've liked to have seen her accessorize her look with a belt within the primary color family, as the pastel blue looked a bit off.

Dare to Wear: Lady Gaga

Posted by babu 2:11pm GMT

Lady Gaga proved she's got (almost) nothing to hide in a sheer blue Mugler bodysuit accessorized with platform boots (aka stilts), a cross-clad chain and a Cruella de Vil 'do at a recent press conference at the St. Regis Hotel in Mexico City.

I love how she's shrugging her shoulders in this pic, as if to say "Yes, these are zebra-striped pasties, but it's me. What did you expect?"
