Paris Fashion Week Haute Couture F/W 2011 Recap

Paris Fashion Week Haute Couture F/W 2011 is in full swing. Some of my favorite celeb looks to have surfaced so far include:

Blake Lively in a bohemian Chanel Resort dress at the Chanel show. From Blake's colorful earrings to her T-strap platforms, this look has fresh and flirty written all over it.

Olivia Palermo rocking a fuchsia leopard-print dress at the Elie Saab show. Never one to shy away from a bold print, "The City" star ups the ante with a more neutral leopard belt.

Jessica Alba in a full-skirted dress from the Chanel Spring 2010 collection at the Chanel show. While I love the dress, I would've preferred to see it paired with red shoes to tie together the matching lip and belt.

Claire Danes wearing an ombre Armani Prive sheath at the designer's show. The actress accessorized her pastel creation with gold peep-toes and a matching gold clutch.

Leighton Meester sporting a leather Chanel sheath at the Chanel show. While I love this dress, I would've liked to see Leighton forgo the heavy necklace and bangle. The dress makes a statement on its own.

Style Showdown: Blake vs. Jennifer

Watch out, J.Lo!

Just months after the singer wore a sparkling, champagne-colored Georges Chakra dress to the Us Weekly Hot Hollywood Party, Blake Lively was spotted rocking the "made-for-TV" version (complete with oxfords, blazer and fedora) on the "Gossip Girl" set in Paris.

While I appreciate the styling that went into Blake's ensemble, the dress appears to be more in its element on J.Lo. Paired with just the gold heels and clutch, the dress is able to really shine!

Trend to Try: Tap Shorts

From bralettes and corsets to thigh-highs and hot shorts, it's becoming more and more apparent that everyday lingerie is here to stay, at least for the summer.

For an affordable (and equally adorable) alternative to the Marchesa shorts worn by Blake Lively and Georgina Chapman at the designer's Spring 2010 presentation, I like the Pins and Needles Scalloped Lace Tap Shorts, which retail for $24, at Urban Outfitters.

Style Steal: Blake Lively's Pool Blue Adam Jumper

I'm happy to say my search for a good replica of Blake Lively's infamous Adam romper, worn to the CW Upfront Presentation last year, is officially over.

Everything from the banded waist to the adorable, criss-cross straps can be found in this new romper from Armani Exchange, which could work for a day at the beach or a night out on the town.

Style Showdown: Eva vs. Blake

Model Eva Herzigova opted for the same Dolce & Gabbana dress previously worn by Blake Lively and Beyonce Knowles during the Cannes Film Festival this past weekend.

I like how Blake's emerald ring added to her dress, while Eva's gaudy bangle and earring combo took away from hers.

Style Showdown: Danielle vs. Blake

Blake Lively had jaws dropping when she wore this hot little number from Dolce & Gabbana's spring 2010 collection to the "Sherlock Holmes" premiere in New York back in December.

Since then, the lacy LBD has been spotted on Beyonce Knowles and, most recently, lingerie model Danielle Lineker (at the Walkers campaign launch).

While Danielle certainly has the bod to pull this dress off, it looks like she opted for more coverage on bottom, taking away from some of the dress's sex appeal.

Style Showdown: Jennifer Hudson vs. Blake Lively

Jennifer Hudson looked positively polished at the 2010 Grammy Awards, where she wore the same black Victoria Beckham sheath worn by Blake Lively back in October at the 2009 Angel Ball.

While I love the posh mini on both ladies, I prefer how Blake opted out of tights and chose heels with a purple toe. Jennifer's dress loses definition when blurred with black tights and solid black pumps.

Dare to Wear: Blake Lively

First Leighton, now Blake? In the words of "Gossip Girl," WTF?!

Miss Lively looked like she just rolled out of bed (which has apparently become a trend lately) at the Eric Daman "You Know You Want It" celebration, where she wore a Stella McCartney legging-boot hybrid paired with a long blazer thrown over a sloppy button-up.

Her peekaboo bra and messy hairstyle completed the unimpressive look.

Trend to Try: Infinity Scarves

If you purchase at least one thing with that holiday gift card, make it an infinity scarf. Stars like Blake Lively, Emmy Rossum and Jessica Biel are cozying up to the warm-weather accessory that keeps on giving.

While styles range from long and loopy to short and stout, I tend to prefer the thick, cable knit kind. I did a little digging and was able to find this adorable version (pictured below) on sale now (Shaker Infinity Scarf, $24.99, thelimited.com).

Rule Breakers or Trend Makers: Loading Up on Lace

Though stars’ latest lace looks may not be the same dramatic floor-sweeping all-lace designs that pop up during awards shows, it doesn’t mean the missing yards of lace make for a less impressive dress.

For a recent Sherlock Holmes premiere, Blake Lively, in a nearly sheer Dolce & Gabbana mini, upstaged the other stars on the red carpet that are actually IN the movie.

For the star-packed “Nine” premiere in New York, mother and daughter Madonna and Lourdes kept all eyes on them in coordinated, yet individualistic, Dolce & Gabbana lace looks.

But when Nicole Kidman topped her L’Wren Scott sheath with a poofy lace capelet on December 9 for a screening of “Nine” in California, the fashion reviews were less than favorable.
