Dare to Wear: Zooey Deschanel

Posted by babu 5:23pm GMT

Actress Zooey Deschanel looked like she'd just rolled out of bed at yesterday's SELF Magazine July Music Issue Celebration in New York.

Perhaps if she'd worn her sundress sans tights (and brushed her hair), she would've come across as a bit fresher.

Dare to Wear: Courtney Love

Posted by babu 1:52pm GMT

And the curious case of what's in Courtney Love'scloset continues...

The singer wore what looked like a submission to a toilet paper wedding dress competition to the Second Annual amfAR Inspiration Gala in New York.

At least she didn't have to worry about getting stuck in a bathroom stall sans T.P.

Dare to Wear: Lucy Liu

Posted by babu 12:42pm GMT

It looks like someone's eco-friendly!

Lucy Liu appeared to have recycled her picnic blanket in a plaid Vivienne Westwood dress at the "Kung Fu Panda 2" premiere in Australia.

She topped off her park-savvy style with a pink clutch and peep-toe slingbacks.

Dare to Wear: Jennifer Lopez

Posted by babu 11:15am GMT

Call the doctor! Jennifer Lopez has a bad case of disco fever!

The curvy singing sensation has been sporting a variety of '70s-inspired getups as of late, including this belted, python-print dress and matching Christian Louboutin thigh-high boot pairing.

The only thing missingfrom her lookis a disco ball.

Dare to Wear: Mischa Barton

Posted by babu 11:13am GMT

Timber!

Mischa Barton looked like a walking Christmas Tree in a black gown with gathered tulle cascading throughout at the 14th Shanghai International Film Festival this past weekend.

A fringed neck "skirt" and red platforms completed the actress's festive (and frightening) style.

Dare to Wear: Jennifer Hudson

Posted by babu 6:02pm GMT

Jennifer Hudson has a rockin' bod and, from what I've seen, a fun personality, so why she opted to wear a "St. Pauli Girl" costume during her recent "Good Morning America" performance (she was serving up beats, not brews) is beyond me.

Hopefully, she'll back bounce with a bright orange bodice next week.

Dare to Wear: Pixie Geldof

Posted by babu 6:44pm GMT

British model and socialite Pixie Geldof looked like she was wearing a naturesquerobe (designed by House of Holland) at the 2011 Glamour Women of the Year Awards.

I would say that I'm relieved she forewent a matchingshower cap but, considering those roots, it might not have been a bad idea.

Dare to Wear: Lady Gaga

Posted by babu 11:43am GMT

I'm assumingthe hardest part of walking in Lady Gaga's shoes would beACTUALLY WALKING IN HER SHOES.

Never one to be upstaged, the singer tip-toed atop one-foot platforms (maybe even higher) while wearing a custom-designed Mugler gown (complete with a billowing, tulle train) and a bright blue wig at the 2011 CFDA Fashion Awards.

Miss Gaga also made it a point to guard her lady parts with spikes, not that anyone could reach them anyway.

Dare to Wear: Chloe Sevigny

Posted by babu 12:54pm GMT

The never-ending hurdle I face when it comes to"blacklisting" Chloe Sevigny is that her ensembles, as wacky as they may be, are always backed up with an air of "My front row seat is still warm" confidence and, of course, a heavyweight designer label.

In the case of this year's CFDA Fashion Awards, hosted by the Council of Fashion Designers of America to honor the latest and greatest designing talents, the "Big Love" actress wore a "Barb Wire" meets Barbie dress from her collaboration with Opening Ceremony.

While I'm on team leather for the season (granted one can wear it without having to peel it off), I can't help but think her plunging, cutout and laser-cut bodice came off as a little tacky. The same can be said for her matchy-matchy shoes and forced, come-hither pose.
