Sisterly Showdown: Kim vs. Kourtney Kardashian

Posted by babu 4:34pm GMT

Kim Kardashian
and big sister Kourtney were among presenters (who didn't get slimed) at Nickelodeon's 2011 Kids' Choice Awards this past weekend.

While I may be a tad biased (Kourtney happens to be my favorite sister), I couldn't help but think that against all odds (those being a sky-high hemline and power cleavage), Kourtney managed to ooze more sex appeal than Kim, whose frilly frock could've passed for a Halloween costume (Little Bo Peep, perhaps?!).

According to Kim's blog, Kourtney's coral, goddess-like getup was actually chosen as a last-minute resort when the zipper on her first-choice dress busted right before the event.

Which sister's Kids' Choice style is your fave?

One Designer, Two Ways: PETA

Posted by babu 12:42pm GMT

British model Chantelle Houghton recently showed off her love of greens in a mini dress made out of lettuce leaves at the launch of PETA's Vegetarian/Vegan Starter Kit in London.

If you recall, actress Rokhsaneh Ghawam-Shahidi let loose in a fishtail gown made of the same fabric (make that fiber) for a PETA campaign that took place in Leeds last year (find out more about her leafy concoction here).

While both styles are on trend for spring (I mean those bright green, ombre hues and ruffles, hello?!), I'm going to have to give this one to the fishtail gown for creativity.

Which style is the right way, and which one needs to hit the highway? You tell me in the comment section below.

Style Showdown: Jennifer Hudson vs. Jennifer Lopez

Posted by babu 4:11pm GMT

It's a battle of the Jennifers!

Jennifer Hudson wore this cool, leather Chloe dress to perform during Nickelodeon's Upfront presentation just two months after Jennifer Lopez went nude in the same dress for an episode of "American Idol."

While neither of the divas had any trouble pulling off the full-skirted mini marvel, I'm giving this one to J.Lo for her daring shoe choice (she wore leopard-print Christian Louboutin booties), and for getting to the dress first.

Who wore Chloe better?

Style Showdown: Nicky Hilton vs. Jaime King

Posted by babu 3:17pm GMT

Nicky Hilton wasn't the ONLY fierce fashionista at the UK Style by French Connection in Los Angeles!

Jaime King showed up wearing the same sequined, leopard shift dress (from the UK Style by French Connection collection, scheduled to hit Sears stores this spring).

While both ladies worked it in the spotty sensation, I like how Nicky reined in her wild style with a wide belt and delicate Christian Louboutin stilettos, making for a more polished look.

Style Showdown: Nicky Whelan vs. Marisa Tomei

Posted by babu 5:18pm GMT

It looks like Nicky Whelan granted herself a "Hall Pass" to steal another celeb's style at her film's premiere in Los Angeles.

Not only did the actress wear the same leafy Vivienne Westwood dress donned by Marisa Tomei at the AMPAS 2nd Annual Governors Awards, but she went as far as to copy Marisa's shoe pairing (and even her hairstyle)!

While both stars looked great in the gardenesque getup (which has also been worn by Debi Mazar), I'm giving this one to Marisa for originality.

Style Showdown: Helena Bonham Carter vs. Freida Pinto

Posted by babu 2:52pm GMT

It turns out Helena Bonham Carter isn't the only celeb to have made a mark in this Marc Jacobs dress (worn to the 2011 SAG Awards).

Freida Pinto was first spotted in the black and white, floral applique dress at the 18th Annual Hamptons International Film Festival back in October.

Much like the dress du jour, this is a comparison between night and day and, with her breezy accessories and sandals, Freida's sunny style wins it for me.

Style Showdown: Khloe Kardashian vs. Jessica Alba

Posted by babu 1:18pm GMT

Apparently, Kim wasn't the first Kardashian to steal a red-carpet style.

At this year's People's Choice Awards, younger sister Khloe wore a silver version of the strapless emerald Alexander McQueen worn by Jessica Alba three years earlier to the "Fantastic Four Rise of the Silver Surfer" premiere in Mexico City.

I happen to find this dress (find out who else has worn it here) to be universally flattering and, while I prefer the rich, emerald shade in general, I thought the silver worked well with Khloe's newly dyed 'do. This one's a draw for me.

Style Showdown: Kim Kardashian vs. Kate Beckinsale

Posted by babu 1:07pm GMT

About six months after Kate Beckinsale debuted a silk and lace Nina Ricci bandage creation at the Cannes Film Festival, Kim Kardashian decided to give the gown a go at the 2011 InStyle/Warner Brothers Golden Globes Party.

While both leading ladies gave the gown the glamorous treatment with dangling earrings, Kim's hairstyle and red lip made for a sexier ambiance, while Kate's soft waves and tawny palette lended to a more subtle, natural look. This one's a toss-up for me.

Style Showdown: Halle Berry vs. Bee Schaffer

Posted by babu 3:51pm GMT

Long before Halle Berry sent smoke signals down the red carpet in a barely-there Nina Ricci LBD at the 2011 Golden Globe Awards, Bee Schaffer (a.k.a. "Vogue" editor-in-chief Anna Wintour's daughter) was working the same, sultry bustier gown at the 2009 Costume Institute Gala.

While I don't particularly like the dress (if you can even call it that) on either lady, I do prefer Halle's black on black dress and sandal pairing to Bee's navy on black peep-toe pairing, so I'm going to have to give this one to her.

Style Showdown: Christine Adams vs. Rachel Bilson

Posted by babu 1:24pm GMT

If you think enough time has gone by for you to successfully steal someone's style without getting caught, review these former showdowns, and think again.

A little over a year after Rachel Bilson debuted her colorful, printed DVF Erosa silk dress at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Spring 2010 (which took place in Sept. '09), actress Christine Adams proved there's no such thing as an expiration date when it comes to style stealing by wearing the same dress to this week's 2011 Fox All-Star Party.

Because she was first (and because I don't like Christine's shoe pairing), I'm giving this one to Rachel.
