Hollywood's See-Through Shirt Society

Posted by babu 11:52am GMT

As a teenager, wearing a colored bra under a white top fell under the "You're not walking out of the house like that" category.

Maybe it's because it was so engrained in my mind ("IT" being that boobs were a burden to bare and that girls who wore black bras under white shirts were attracting the wrong kind of attention) but, to this day, I still make a concerted effort to hide my bras at all costs, which is why I've been having some trouble adjusting my eyes to the see-through top/black bra trend exposing itself all over Hollywood.

What's your take on the black bra/sheer shirt trend?

Wearing Fur Vests In Summer: Trend or Foe?

Posted by babu 12:05pm GMT

While most of us are ducking for cover or heading to the nearest shore waters in efforts to cool down, temperature-immune celebs like Elizabeth Hurley, Yasmin Le Bon and Nicole Scherzinger are turning up the heat in a variety of fur vests.

To make matters even worse, the pre-fall fashionistas have been completing their looks with long bottoms and layering on the accessories.

Summer Leather: Trend or Foe?

Posted by babu 1:04pm GMT

This morning, I had to will myself to pile on a belt and statement necklace in the name of accessorizing (and that's as far as it goes these days), so how a woman could, against human nature, manage to peel a leather dress over her head and down her body in the face of a heat wave is beyond me.

Maybe I'm forgetting that Emma Roberts, Jennifer Aniston and Brooklyn Decker are not merely women, but celebs, and are therefore immune to hot flashes, especially when it comes to leather styles that appear to have been painted on.

I just hope the turn up the "Degree" when it comes to sweat-proofing their styles.

Kimono Wraps: Trend or Foe?

Posted by babu 5:47pm GMT

Celebs like Shenae Grimes, Vanessa Hudgens and Nicole Richie have been taking their silk robes to the streets!

Do you think kimono wraps, which seem to be popping up everywhere (including H&M and Zara) lately, belong on the red carpet, or in the bedroom?

Swimsuit Stuffing: Trend or Foe?

Posted by babu 3:06pm GMT

Busted!

I just stumbled upon this pic of Malin Akerman at Miami Beach in what "appears" to be the Victoria's Secret Miraculous Push-up Halter Top (masked with a mismatched bottom from another collection).

Perhaps the reason I was so quick to spot Malin's "stuffed" swimsuit top is because I was bombardedbya slew ofthem (and their misleading contents), in the same Logo Leopard print, while at the beach last weekend.

Do you think the up-to-two-cup-sizes-larger swimsuit circuit reflects a revolution in padded bras or, in the words of my cousin Vicky, are they just another example of companies "designing swimsuits with the sole purpose of making men horny?"

What's your take on "stuffed" swimsuits?

Trend to Try: Lip Prints

Posted by babu 1:43pm GMT

Forget hearts! Celebs have been wearing their lips (and, in some cases, many of them) on their sleeves in a variety of smooch-bearing styles.

Some of my favorites thus far include Kristin Davis' Prada tea dress and Liv Tyler's DKNY waist-tie dress.

Get the effect with the Miss Sixty Dress with Lip Print, now $132.74, asos.com.

Satin Platforms: Trend or Foe?

Posted by babu 6:43pm GMT

Blame it on the "Black Swan" effect (which has also lead to an outpouring of feathered frocks on the red carpet), but celebs like Emma Roberts, Emma Stone and Eva Longoria have been pirouetting down the red carpet in a range of satin platforms.

While no doubt enchanting, I personally think that, when it comes to footwear, satin should be reserved for theballet and bridal parties.

Python Prints: Trend or Foe?

Posted by babu 5:18pm GMT

Move over leopard!

Celebs are taking a sleeker approach to animal prints with python dresses and accessories.

When wearing such a powerful print, I advise sticking to one main or accent piece (a la Courteney Cox), as opposed to piling on the scales (a la past DTW contenders J.Lo and Vanessa).
