This Week's Fab Five

Posted by babu 1:09pm GMT

This week was all about bold colors. And the winners are...

Abbie Cornish in Amanda Wakeley at the "Sucker Punch" premiere in Los Angeles. The actress struck the perfect balance between classy and cool in this cobalt-blue creation, which she accessorized with matching drop earrings.

Jamie Chung in Giambattista Valli at the "Sucker Punch" premiere in Los Angeles. Never one to stand on the red-carpet sidelines, Jamie made a loud entrance in this lemondrop-hued gown, which featured yellow and gray chiffon draping along the bodice and waist.

Carla Gugino
in a satin sweetheart gown at the "Sucker Punch" premiere in Los Angeles. The dark-haired beauty oozed romance in this rosette-covered gown, which she accented with a poppy-colored lip.

Emmy Rossum in YSL at the Metropolitan Opera Premiere of Le Comte Ory in New York. The starlet looked minty-fresh in this green, Grecian-inspired gown, which she amped up with a purple belt and shoes and a saturated makeup palette.

Malin Akerman
in Holmes & Yang at the "Sucker Punch" premiere in Los Angeles. Malin looked red-hot in the bohemian-meets-bombshell gown, which was cinched at the waist for more definition.

This week was all about keeping it classy. And the winners are...

Michelle Trachtenberg in Marchesa at the 2011 School Of American Ballet Winter Ball. The actress, who has undergone a complete style transformation lately, looked romantic in this whimsical chiffon gown, which reminds me of something Taylor Swift would wear.

Selena Gomez in Dolce & Gabbana at the 2011 Disney Kids & Family Upfront. I love when Selena wears red, because it really works well with her dark features. In this case, she upped the ante with matching lips and red bow-clad heels for salsa-fying results.

Kelly Rutherford
in a steel-hued, silk gown at the 2011 School Of American Ballet Winter Ball. The "Gossip Girl" star exuded head-to-toe glamour in this asymmetrical gown, which featured beautiful beading along one shoulder.

Thandie Newton in a Marni dress and coat at the Birds Eye View Film Festival in London. Thandie looked polished to perfection in this prairie dress, coat and boot pairing. She topped off her sophisticated, yet sexy, ensemble with a chic handheld bag.

Celine Dion
in Armani Prive while performing at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace. Celine looked nothing short of enchanting in this fairy-tale-esque gown, which was dripping with sequins and featured a fresh cutout in front.

This week was all about the 2011 Oscars. And the winners are...

Cate Blanchett in Givenchy. The actress exuded elegance in this heavily beaded (and pleated), pale lavender and yellow gown from the designer's couture collection.

Mila Kunis in Elie Saab. Allover lace and chiffon paneling added extra dimension to this whimsical, periwinkle-perfect creation, which was banded at the waist to highlight Mila's feminine figure.

Camila Alves in Zuhair Murad. Camila was nothing short of breathtaking at the Vanity Fair Oscar Party in this nude, sheer-overlay gown with beautiful black flower embroidering throughout.

Sandra Bullock in Vera Wang. A cutout corset upped the ante on this red-hot fishtail gown, which was wrapped up with a giant bow in back.

Jessica Biel
in Atelier Versace. Jessica stole the spotlight at the Vanity Fair Oscar Party in this shimmery, silver and gold-paneled sensation.

This week was all about whimsical gowns and sexy LBDs. And the winners are...

Halle Berry
in Elie Saab at the 13th Annual Costumer Designers Guild Awards. It's a rare occasion that one gets to see Halle wearing anything other than black, so it was especially refreshing seeing her radiate in this raspberry-red, lace-covered gown.

Elizabeth Banks
in Versace at Tom Ford’s Beverly Hills Flagship Store Opening. The actress oozed sex appeal in this belted, cutout LBD, which she spruced up with a pair of colorful Miu Miu sandals.

Kristin Davis in Oscar de la Renta at the 13th Annual Costumer Designers Guild Awards. The actress looked quintessentially "Charlotte" in this girly, silk-tulle gown covered in black polka-dots and cinched at the waist with a satin bow.

Diane Kruger in Vionnet at the 61st Berlin International Film Festival. The actress looked like a Grecian goddess in this romantic, cream-colored halter gown that featured beautiful pleating, rustic chain detailing and a sexy open back. It's my favorite of the five.

Jennifer Aniston
in Nina Ricci at the "Just Go With It" premiere in Berlin. While I would've liked to have seen Jennifer incorporate some color into this completely-black look, I couldn't help but get caught up in this flirty, frilly LBD, which boasted a tulle rosette on the one shoulder.

This week was all about colorful gowns. And the winners are...

Rihanna
in Christian Dior at the 2011 BRIT Awards. Rihanna popped in this multipatterned, multitextured, multicolored masterpiece, which she further amped up with matching teal pumps.

Heidi Klum in Julien MacDonald at the 2011 Grammy Awards. The "Project Runway" star exuded old Hollywood glam from head to toe in this gleaming, gold gown, which boasted sexy cutouts along the shoulders and in back.

Thandie Newton in Monique Lhuillier at the 2011 BAFTA Awards. The actress oozed romance in this rosette-print, paint splashed taffeta gown, which she paired with modest jewelry and a chic chignon.

Jessica Alba in Atelier Versace at the 2011 BAFTA Awards. Jessica looked the part of a tribal princess in this royal blue gown with intricate ruching along the corset-like bodice. I also love the actress's exotic necklace and ring pairing.

Nicole Kidman in Jean Paul Gaultier at the 2011 Grammy Awards. I'm not exactly Nicole's biggest fan when it comes to the red-carpet, but even I can't deny that she looked gorgeous in this gardenesque gown, which concluded with a partially-sheer and ruffled fishtail train.

This week was all about the perfect party dress. And the winners are...

Jennifer Lopez in Haute Hippie at the Venus Goddess Razor Global Ambassador unveiling. As usual, J.Lo achieved a head-to-toe glow in this nude blouse and sequined wrap-skirt dup, which she topped off with jewels and Christian Louboutin pumps.

Rachel Bilson in Burberry Prorsum at the "Waiting for Forever" premiere. Leather trimming added a sexy touch to this otherwise girly, ruffled-chiffon dress, which the actress topped off with ankle-strap pumps.

Heidi Klum in Rachel Roy at Lucky's March Issue Celebration. Posh gets a playful makeover in this magenta-streaked sheath. The fearless fashionista pumped up the volume even more with strappy sandals and a set of cage rings.

Ginnifer Goodwin in Monique Lhuillier at the Children Awaiting Parents event. The always put-together "Big Love" actress looked like a piece of art in this color-splashed and tinsel-accented, illusionary-inset dress, which she brightened up with red peep-toes.

Kim Kardashian in an asymmetrical gold mini at the Kardashian Glam Pack of Silly Bandz Launch Party. Kim appeared to be having a Lady Gaga moment in this origami-style, foam dress and, while somewhat out of character, I think her overall look (which also also consisted of gold jewel detailing and nude platforms) worked.

This week was all about super flirty, some flowy. And the winners are...

Diane Kruger
in Gucci at the Gucci Rue Royale Reopening Party in Paris. Every once in a while, Diane switches up her "ladies who lunch" Chanel frocks with something a little daring, and I love it! The allover gold plating on this halter dress ooze tribal chic, and the actress's matching sandals prove the perfect complement.

Kate Bosworth in Dolce & Gabbana at the 2011 Creative Coalition Spotlight Initiative Awards in Utah. I love how the actress added a rustic, brown belt to really round out this otherwise fru-fru frock.

Jessica Alba in Gucci at the Gucci Rue Royale Reopening Party in Paris. This is one of those red carpet dresses that screams "I've still got it" or, in Miss Alba's case, "I never lost it." My only regret is that this sparkly, asymmetrical sensation wasn't around during the star's "Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer" days, as it would've made for the perfect premiere piece.

Caroline Sieber in Louis Vuitton at the Sidaction Gala Dinner in Paris. While the loose fit, lace fabric and feminine shape of the stylist's recent ensemble lend themselves to a softer, more feminine look, the bold color pairing is truly refreshing.

Heidi Klum in Marchesa at the InStyle Best of British Talent BAFTA Party in London. Between it's illusionary inset neckline, allover beading and feathered accents, this dress is as flirty as it is fierce! The Project Runway host topped off her playful piece with open-toe booties.

This week was all about the Golden Globe Awards. And the winners are...

Angelina Jolie
in Versace. I simply cannot express how refreshing it was to see Angelina choose a gown in any color other black, let alone this sensational spearment shade. A cinched waist, sculpted shoulders and allover shimmer further accentuated her Green Goddess physique.

Megan Fox in Armani Prive. This pastel-pink gown, complete with a gorgeous, crystal-encrusted bandage bodice, strikes the perfect balance between sexy and sophisticated.

Olivia Wilde in Marchesa. Olivia proved the belle of the ball in this black, tulle gown with taupe sequins cascading down, which was on the playful side compared to what we're used to seeing her in.

January Jones
in Versace. Mixed reviews aside, I thought the "Mad Men" star looked ravishingly retro in this hard-to-pull off cutout, fringed gown, which she topped off with a matching red lip.

Anne Hathaway in Armani Prive. While I've expressed disappointment in the predictability factor of Anne choosing this gown (which resembles several of the star's previous, Armani Prive-dominant red-carpet looks), there's no denying she looked like a real-life Golden Globe in this sequined, shoulder-sculpted gown.

This week was all about taking chances. And the winners are...

Emily Deschanel
in BCBG Max Azria at the 2011 Fox All-Star Party. Good girl meets bad girl in this lace and leather-trimmed dress, which happened to be my favorite from the event. I also like how Emily mized things up with square-toe pumps, which seem to be making a comeback for spring.

Natalie Portman in Vena Cava at the "No Strings Attached" premiere in Los Angeles. Not only did this gown succeed in concealing Natalie's baby bump, but the color blocking and cutout detail oozed boho chic.

Lake Bell in Basil Soda at the "No Strings Attached" premiere in Los Angeles. The actress stole the spotlight in this body-hugging bodice, which she topped off with a pair of nude, ankle-strap platforms.

Rachel McAdams
in Michael Kors at the "Morning Glory" premiere in Berlin. The actress looked like a Grecian goddess in this beautiful, breezy halter gown with black leather trimming.

Michelle Williams in Oscar de la Renta at the 2011 National Board of Review Awards Gala. Michelle has a penchant for retro (and often lacy) styles with a modern twist, so when it came to dressing for the awards gala, this dress was probably a no-brainer. She wrapped up her romantic style with a satin bow and platforms.

This week was all about the 2011 People's Choice Awards. And the winners are...

Queen Latifah
in Edition by Georges Chakra. My best-dressed pick of the night, the "Queen" certainly reigned in this turquoise and cream, ombre gown with beautiful beading along the halter neckline.

Taylor Swift in J. Mendel. I was excited to see Taylor choose this dress because it's a little sexier (and more mature) than her usual, glitter-clad, getups. Not only was this dress fresh (incorporating an illusionary neckline and bodice), the pastel peach color and flirty detailing puts me in the mood for spring.

Kaley Cuoco in a creamy, corseted creation. This gown, which looks like it could've been hand-picked from Katie Cassidy's closet, is one part gutsy, two parts gorgeous. I also love how the singer brightened up her soft ensemble with a colorful makeup palette.

Kim Kardashian in Catherine Malandrino. Kim looked like a total bombshell in this gold, brocade dress, which she paired with a thick, gold chain collar and nude platforms.

Selena Gomez in Irina Shabayeva. While I'm usually a sucker for a sweetheart neckline and a medley of different textures (this gown marries chiffon and tulle), it's the colorful, tribal print that absolutely makes this dress, which the actress/singer accessorized with gold jewelry and platform sandals.
