Upgrade: Cindy Crawford Finds Her Model Style

Posted by babu 8:52pm GMT

Earlier today for the Omega watches store opening in London, Cindy Crawford looked as if she let her two kids pick out that uninspiring Barney-color dress. Yes, belts are in, Cin, but model good looks aren't enough to pull off a style that just sits there, boring, blah and basic.

But Crawford traded her safe style for a sexier LBD for the Omega after-party with accessories more suited to her super-model legacy: a rock star friend (Lily Allen, on right) and a globe-trotting English model in an I-don't-care rocker tee (Annabelle Neilson, left, friend of Kate Moss).

Rule Breakers or Trend Makers: Boning Dresses

Posted by babu 7:04pm GMT

Maybe we have the Halloween season to thank for this latest red carpet craze, but these sexy dresses featuring lingerie-inspired boning are anything buy scary.

Kerry Washington
's sleek Calvin Klein number creates a sexy yet delicate effect, while London-based designer Christopher Kane's dresses on Whitney Port and Emma Watson use the same effect to create futuristic fashion.

Check out similar styles in this Corset Trend Look Book
that calls out singer Eve's body-conscious Dolce & Gabanna choice.

Bells of the Ball

Posted by babu 7:01pm GMT

Since I first spotted Jessica Alba wearing this larger-than-life Dolce & Gabbana dress (above) back in 2008, I've been on a serious lookout for a bell that could trump it.

That said, you can only imagine the sense of satisfaction I felt when I recently came across this image of Agatha Ruiz de la Prada at the BBVA New Promotional Initiative Launch. Now that's a bell worth bragging about!

Less daring celebs, such as Megan Fox and Keri Hilson, have been opting for slimmer, shorter versions of the wide wonder and, while these of course manage to blend in a little easier on the red carpet, I say: "If you're gonna do it, do it right."

Would you brave a bell-bottom?

Style Showdown: Paris Hilton vs. Katie Cassidy

Posted by babu 6:14pm GMT

Paris Hilton got leggy in a teal, one-shouldered mini designed by Brian Lichtenberg at the 2009 Fox Reality Channel Really Awards this week, following the lead of "Melrose Place" actress Katie Cassidy, who wore the same sparkling sensation to her show's series premiere party in Los Angeles back in August.

While I wouldn't have paired this dress with a similarly sparkly clutch, I find this dress to look classier on Katie (maybe it's her softer hairstyle).

Which star looks more tantalizing in teal?

Trend to Try: Black and White

Posted by babu 5:48pm GMT

Stars like Jennifer Connelly (her color-block RM by Roland Mouret dress is my favorite of the four outfits pictured), Leighton Meester, Victoria Beckham and Jessica Lowndes have mastered the art of wearing white after Labor Day with black and white ensembles that exude sophistication.

Achieve this sexy segway into fall with a classic shape, cold-weather coverage and a mod print (I really love this Monochrome Shift Dress from Lipsy London).

Dare to Wear: Rose McGowan

Posted by babu 4:43pm GMT

Actress Rose McGowan rocked a bow-clad asymmetrical top and black mini skirt to the 2009 MAD Paperball Gala in New York City.

Though I'm not exactly smitten with the ensemble (I'd prefer to see this top in dress form), I'll be the first to admit her style has come a long way since her days as Marilyn Manson's girlfriend.

Would you dare to wear this look?

Dare to Wear: Taylor Momsen

Posted by babu 6:04pm GMT

When it comes to style, there are few things that bother me more than competing accessories. In the case of "Gossip Girl" star Taylor Momsen at "The Stepfather" premiere in New York, these would be her busy tights, power-platform booties and raccoon eyeliner, not to mention her dress in and of itself.

I liked Taylor's style much better in "How the Grinch Stole Christmas." She's still only 16, so let's just hope this is a phase.

"Hills" Style Smackdown: Audrina vs. Kristin

Posted by babu 3:13pm GMT

Tensions were rising between Audrina Patridge and Kristin Cavallari on the second episode of "The Hills" last night as both ladies continued to battle it out for the very desirable (I'm saying this loosely, of course) Justin Bobby.

As if Kristin didn't do enough damage during the season premiere (heavy flirting and very possibly pretending to love football in hopes to sway him, eh hem), she showed off her bikini bod with Mr. Wonderful last night while Audrina made a jealousy play by asking out one of his friends. Note: In true "Pratt" fashion, Stephanie was there to help pin both ladies against one another (did she have lip injections?).

Because we're all adults here, and this drama is SO behind us, I say we settle this one the old fashioned way...with a good style smackdown.

Which "Hills" star should win Justin Bobby's heart based on style savvy alone?

Demi Moore: Miles of Style (and Jersey)

Posted by babu 3:05pm GMT

Demi Moore’s latest Greek goddess look at the Freedom Awards last night may evoke "bed sheet chic" for some, but I am digging the fluid shape, soft shade, and 70's-era disco glam factor. And Moore's statement necklace is the perfect on-trend touch.

Whether you are a fan or want to ban the languid look, we can all agree this latest dress is another shining example of Demi Moore's Fashion Formula.

Fashion Formula: Olivia Palermo's Mix-and-Match Style

Posted by babu 10:39pm GMT

Having a fashion formula doesn't mean being so predictable. Olivia Palermo may be the most-hated girl on MTV's "The City," but she's also the one with the wardrobe (and a unique sense of style) that everyone loves.

While the NYC socialite-model-publicist is never one to be caught in the same look twice, she does have a few fashion rules you can adopt to achieve her eclectic polished style:

1) Stock your closet full of classic foundations: the perfect white tee, versatile jackets, and lots of neutral grays.

2) An effortless mix of neutral shades (blacks, grays, whites and beiges) with a few touches of color from accessories (or even nails) looks great on everyone.

3) Forget about trying to match shoes and bags; that's so "Mad Men."

4) Mix and match accessories to transform a basic look into something unique and personal.

What do you think of Olivia Palermo's mix-and-match style?
