This Week's Fab Five

Posted by babu 3:43pm GMT

This week was all about keeping it classy. And the winners are...

Michelle Trachtenberg in Marchesa at the 2011 School Of American Ballet Winter Ball. The actress, who has undergone a complete style transformation lately, looked romantic in this whimsical chiffon gown, which reminds me of something Taylor Swift would wear.

Selena Gomez in Dolce & Gabbana at the 2011 Disney Kids & Family Upfront. I love when Selena wears red, because it really works well with her dark features. In this case, she upped the ante with matching lips and red bow-clad heels for salsa-fying results.

Kelly Rutherford
in a steel-hued, silk gown at the 2011 School Of American Ballet Winter Ball. The "Gossip Girl" star exuded head-to-toe glamour in this asymmetrical gown, which featured beautiful beading along one shoulder.

Thandie Newton in a Marni dress and coat at the Birds Eye View Film Festival in London. Thandie looked polished to perfection in this prairie dress, coat and boot pairing. She topped off her sophisticated, yet sexy, ensemble with a chic handheld bag.

Celine Dion
in Armani Prive while performing at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace. Celine looked nothing short of enchanting in this fairy-tale-esque gown, which was dripping with sequins and featured a fresh cutout in front.

Dare to Wear: Selena Gomez

Posted by babu 5:39pm GMT

Is Selena Gomez a trend hoarder?!

While many women have been guilty of overbuying when it comes to the latest trends, much fewer are guilty (or perhaps even capable) of incorporating a season's worth of trends into one outfit.

Apparently, Selena, who recently rocked a dress featuring an illusionary inset, lace, corset, beads, studs, snakeskin paneling and a tribal print skirt, hails from the "much fewer" category.

To make matters even worse, she topped off her Emilio Pucci creation, worn during a visit to the "Late Show With David Letterman," with zippered, rosette-clad ballet flats.

Best-Dressed at the 2011 Oscar Parties

Posted by babu 4:36pm GMT

Perhaps the only thing as exciting as (or perhaps, in this year's case, even more exciting than) the fashions debuted at the Oscars are those worn to the parties.

Some of my favorite looks this year included those of Jessica Biel (who showed off her flawless figure in a shimmering, gold and silver paneled Atelier Versace gown), Selena Gomez (who looked like a Roman goddess in a plunging, chiffon-draped Dolce & Gabbana gown), and Camila Alves (who reminded the world how she managed to turn Matthew McConaughey into a one-woman man in a nude, illusionary-inset Zuhair Murad gown with black flowers embroidered throughout).

Top party picks also included those of Ashley Tisdale (who sparkled the whole night through in a crystal-embellished Jenny Packham gown) and Lea Michele (who had a magic moment in a midnight-blue Roberto Cavalli gown with dark and electric blue sequins creating a mosaic effect throughout).

2011 Grammy Awards Red-Carpet Recap

Posted by babu 11:36am GMT

We can always count on Lady Gaga to liven up any red carpet, and she did not disappoint at this year’s Grammy Awards. The red-carpet renegade found the perfect way to wow the crowds while cleverly keeping her wardrobe under wraps until performance time… by arriving in an egg!

Not to be outshone by Gaga, fellow fashion rebels Nicki Minaj, Katy Perry and Rihanna stepped out in outrageous outfits designed by Givenchy, Giorgio Armani and Jean Paul Gaultier that looked more like Halloween costumes than haute couture. Seriously, we're talking leopard spots, angel wings and near nakedness!

Although not nearly as daring, celebs like Selena Gomez in J. Mendel and Jennifer Lopez in Emilio Pucci brought a touch of edgy elegance with glittering gowns.

Check out all the looks from this year’s Grammy red carpet here!

This Week's Fab Five

Posted by babu 1:53pm GMT

This week was all about the 2011 People's Choice Awards. And the winners are...

Queen Latifah
in Edition by Georges Chakra. My best-dressed pick of the night, the "Queen" certainly reigned in this turquoise and cream, ombre gown with beautiful beading along the halter neckline.

Taylor Swift in J. Mendel. I was excited to see Taylor choose this dress because it's a little sexier (and more mature) than her usual, glitter-clad, getups. Not only was this dress fresh (incorporating an illusionary neckline and bodice), the pastel peach color and flirty detailing puts me in the mood for spring.

Kaley Cuoco in a creamy, corseted creation. This gown, which looks like it could've been hand-picked from Katie Cassidy's closet, is one part gutsy, two parts gorgeous. I also love how the singer brightened up her soft ensemble with a colorful makeup palette.

Kim Kardashian in Catherine Malandrino. Kim looked like a total bombshell in this gold, brocade dress, which she paired with a thick, gold chain collar and nude platforms.

Selena Gomez in Irina Shabayeva. While I'm usually a sucker for a sweetheart neckline and a medley of different textures (this gown marries chiffon and tulle), it's the colorful, tribal print that absolutely makes this dress, which the actress/singer accessorized with gold jewelry and platform sandals.

Red-Carpet Recap: 2011 People's Choice Awards

Posted by babu 12:19pm GMT

Signs of spring were in the air at last night's People's Choice Awards, where celebs lined the red carpet in a variety of beautiful and breezy shades (nudes, pastels and golds were in abundance), patterns and styles.

And the All the Looks Insider's Choice Awards go to...Favorite Country Artist winner Taylor Swift (who tamed her usual tinsel and opted for a soft, peach colored illusionary-inset J. Mendel dress (from the Spring 2011 collection), Ashley Tisdale (who looked like a Bohemian princess in a multicolored Farah Angsana gown with corset paneling (from the Spring 2011 collection) and singer Kaley Cuoco (who looked like an old Hollywood movie star in a creamy, silk bustier gown belted at the waist).

Also topping my it list were Vanessa Williams (whooozedconfidencein a plunging, metallic Tadashi Shoji sheath and Christian Louboutin peep-toes) and Selena Gomez (who took the stage in a multicolored, printed Irina Shabayeva gown with a subtle, sweetheart neckline).

Red-Carpet Recap: KIIS FM's Jingle Ball 2010

Posted by babu 1:44pm GMT

KIIS FM's Jingle Ball 2010 concert took place in Los Angeles last night and, while most celebs in attendance took the casual-chic (or, in Hayley Williams' case, eek) route, Katy Perry popped in a plum-colored Zuhair Murad sheath with paisley-print lace overlay.

Other celebs in attendance included Victoria Justice (in a navy bodice and leather jacket), former "Bachelorette" Ali Fedotowsky (in a velvet, peach-colored dress with eyelet detailing along the neckline), Selena Gomez (rocking a tie blouse, jeans and scarf combo) and last, but certainly not least, Hayley (who packed on the punk rock in a military sweater, gingham schoolgirl skirt and canvas sneakers).

Dare to Wear: Selena Gomez

Posted by babu 12:15pm GMT

When it comes to Selena Gomez's latest ensemble (sported at the Promise de Grisogono by Cheryl Cole launch in London), I'm not sure it's the sequined pants that bother me nearly as much as the fact that the upper half of her outfit appears to have been taken from a completely different look than the bottom.

Perhaps if the Disney star had opted for a silk blouse versus a cotton turtleneck, and skipped the long, multi-chain necklace as to not compete with the giant bow along her waistline, and left her overbearing, nearing edgy clutch at home, her Lady Gaga-gone-grandma look could've somehow been salvaged.

Then again, maybe not.

This Week's Fab Five

Posted by babu 3:18pm GMT

This week was all about dramatic gowns. And the winners are...

Ciara
in a fringed Givenchy Couture number at the 2010 MTV Video Music Awards. Equal parts feminine and fierce, this lace and fringe gown proved one of my favorites at the awards. I also think it fits Ciara's style personality perfectly.

Eva Mendes in a flowy Zac Posen gown at "The Other Guys" premiere in Moscow. The faint floral print and cream chiffon fabric of this dress really come together to create a soft, almost whimsical, feel.

Florence Welch in a gold Givenchy Couture gown at the 2010 MTV Video Music Awards. Between the lace and allover gold beading, every inch of this gown reads high glamour. The geometric paneling along the waistline and zipper down the front serve as modern touches to the otherwise old fashioned design.

Malin Akerman
in a red ombre J. Mendel gown at "The Bang Bang Club" premiere in Toronto. The rich red shades and futuristic cut of this fishtail gown are as delightful as they are devilish. Malin pulls off the look with flying colors.

Selena Gomez
in a metallic Reem Acra gown at the 2010 MTV Video Music Awards. Purple beading along the neckine adds more dimension to this futuristic, corseted creation.
