This Week's Fab Five

Posted by babu 4:10pm GMT

This week was all about whimsical gowns and sexy LBDs. And the winners are...

Halle Berry
in Elie Saab at the 13th Annual Costumer Designers Guild Awards. It's a rare occasion that one gets to see Halle wearing anything other than black, so it was especially refreshing seeing her radiate in this raspberry-red, lace-covered gown.

Elizabeth Banks
in Versace at Tom Ford’s Beverly Hills Flagship Store Opening. The actress oozed sex appeal in this belted, cutout LBD, which she spruced up with a pair of colorful Miu Miu sandals.

Kristin Davis in Oscar de la Renta at the 13th Annual Costumer Designers Guild Awards. The actress looked quintessentially "Charlotte" in this girly, silk-tulle gown covered in black polka-dots and cinched at the waist with a satin bow.

Diane Kruger in Vionnet at the 61st Berlin International Film Festival. The actress looked like a Grecian goddess in this romantic, cream-colored halter gown that featured beautiful pleating, rustic chain detailing and a sexy open back. It's my favorite of the five.

Jennifer Aniston
in Nina Ricci at the "Just Go With It" premiere in Berlin. While I would've liked to have seen Jennifer incorporate some color into this completely-black look, I couldn't help but get caught up in this flirty, frilly LBD, which boasted a tulle rosette on the one shoulder.

Red Carpet Recap: "Unknown" Premiere (Los Angeles)

Posted by babu 1:39pm GMT

I was a little disappointed when I came across the pictures from the "Unknown" premiere in Los Angeles, most likely because I had high hopes to begin with.

While all three of Diane Kruger, January Jones and Kim Kardashian are pretty high up on my red-carpet roll call, I couldn't help but think each woman's look (especially in the case of January and Kim) fell a bit flat.

Diane wore a Dolce & Gabbana dress from the Spring 2011 collection and, while I loved the dress's allover embroidering and silver detail, there was something about the length/failure to create shape at the cinched waist that felt a little off.

January wore an asymmetrical Alexander McQueen dress, which I would've preferred to see paired with gold or nude heels and a hairstyle/makeup palette that actually went with her look.

And, last but certainly not least, Miss Kardashian ditched the usual body-hugger for a conservative, cape-coat and legging duo, which would've proved refreshing had she not looked like the Marshmallow Woman.

Which star's premiere look works?

Diane Kruger for Glamour March 2011

Posted by babu 12:25pm GMT

The usually prim and proper Diane Kruger proves she's not afraid to get a little dirty in a t-shirt (Daryl K) and denim cutoffs (J Brand), topped off with a distressed Chanel jacket on the cover of Glamour's March 2011 issue (which hits newsstands Feb. 8).

Inside the mag, the German actress can be found rocking a variety of retro, good girl meets bad girl, ensembles made up of pieces from designers like Isabel Marant, Dolce & Gabbana, Stella McCartney, Marc Jacobs and even H&M (belt; below right), while dishing on her love of fashion:

"I truly, genuinely like clothes. Making them is an art form, and wearing them is a form of self-expression. I find it very emotional because I can remember moments in my life—my mood, how I felt—through these clothes."

And her biggest splurge...

"The biggest fashion purchase I ever made I thought about for six years. I’m not kidding. All my life I wanted to own an Hermès Constance bag, and when I signed with Calvin Klein, I decided this was the time that I could afford it. I truly broke a sweat when I paid for it."

This Week's Fab Five

Posted by babu 6:24pm GMT

This week was all about super flirty, some flowy. And the winners are...

Diane Kruger
in Gucci at the Gucci Rue Royale Reopening Party in Paris. Every once in a while, Diane switches up her "ladies who lunch" Chanel frocks with something a little daring, and I love it! The allover gold plating on this halter dress ooze tribal chic, and the actress's matching sandals prove the perfect complement.

Kate Bosworth in Dolce & Gabbana at the 2011 Creative Coalition Spotlight Initiative Awards in Utah. I love how the actress added a rustic, brown belt to really round out this otherwise fru-fru frock.

Jessica Alba in Gucci at the Gucci Rue Royale Reopening Party in Paris. This is one of those red carpet dresses that screams "I've still got it" or, in Miss Alba's case, "I never lost it." My only regret is that this sparkly, asymmetrical sensation wasn't around during the star's "Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer" days, as it would've made for the perfect premiere piece.

Caroline Sieber in Louis Vuitton at the Sidaction Gala Dinner in Paris. While the loose fit, lace fabric and feminine shape of the stylist's recent ensemble lend themselves to a softer, more feminine look, the bold color pairing is truly refreshing.

Heidi Klum in Marchesa at the InStyle Best of British Talent BAFTA Party in London. Between it's illusionary inset neckline, allover beading and feathered accents, this dress is as flirty as it is fierce! The Project Runway host topped off her playful piece with open-toe booties.

Which star's flirty frock is your fave?

Red Carpet Recap: Haute Couture Paris Fashion Week

Posted by babu 4:10pm GMT

Hollywood's couture climbers have been caught up in the high-end fashion heaven that is Haute Couture Paris Fashion Week.

Some of my favorite looks to have surfaced thus far include those of Diane Kruger (who showed off her edgier side in a heavy-metal, haltered Gucci dress), Olivia Wilde (who also got gutsy in a Gucci color-block jumpsuit and tribal necklace and sandals) and Jessica Alba (who sizzled in a sparkly, asymmetrical Gucci sheath and delicate ankle-strap sandals).

Kirsten Dunst
and Alexa Chung took the more classical route in a midnight-colored, pleated Chanel number (Kirsten) and a Chanel tuxedo dress (from the Fall 2010 Couture collection (Alexa).

Which star's fashion week style is most sensational?

This Week's Fab Five

Posted by babu 4:06pm GMT

This week was all about bold statements. And the winners are...

Kate Bosworth
in Derek Lam at the Esquire House Grand Opening in Los Angeles. Bohemian meets sophistication in Kate's dress (from the Spring 2011 collection), which serves as a melting pot of luxe textures, fabrics and colors, including bronze.

Dita von Teese
in Moschino at the launch of "My Private Cointreau Coffret" liqour in London. Between its rich, plum shade, eccentric detailing and classic style, this ruched gown is quintessential Dita. I also love how the burlesque performer plays up her dress shade with matching lipcolor.

Blake Lively in Lanvin at the Spike TV 2010 Scream Awards in Los Angeles. While this gown received a lot of mixed reviews, I absolutely love it. Not only does it serve as proof that Miss Lively doesn't have to show her cleavage to look downright sexy, it incorporates camel and grey (this season's hottest color combo) and a gorgeous, pleated skirt.

Diane Kruger in Calvin Klein at the 17th Annual ELLE Women in Hollywood Tribute in Beverly Hills. While other attendees stuck to dark or neutral palettes, Diane packed some punch into the red carpet with this watermelon wonder. She gets bonus points for keeping her accessories to a minimum and opting for nude sandals, as to not distract from the main attraction.

Sienna Miller in Nina Ricci at the Esquire House Grand Opening in Los Angeles. The sweetheart neckline, peplum waist and allover strips of sheer and lace offer a romantic take on the classic LBD. The actress topped off her look with grey pumps.

Which star's bold style is most beautiful?

Red-Carpet Recap: ELLE's 17th Annual Women in Hollywood Tribute

Posted by babu 12:41pm GMT

Sexy shimmer and monochromatic melons (much in thanks to designer Calvin Klein) took over the red carpet at ELLE's 17th Annual Women in Hollywood Tribute.

Some of my favorite looks included those of Hilary Swank (glowing in a gold Calvin Klein bustier dress), Kate Hudson (looking classy in a Prabal Gurung sheath with floral appliques along the shoulder) and Kerry Washington (keeping her palette neutral in a strapless, beige bodice and nude platforms).

Topping my "IT list" were Gwyneth Paltrow and Diane Kruger, who were similarly styled in citrus-hued sheaths (one tangerine, one more like watermelon) and nude sandals (all from Calvin Klein).

Which star's tribute style was most tantalizing?

Dare to Wear: Diane Kruger

Posted by babu 11:25am GMT

Diane Kruger
opted for a ruffled dress from the Chanel Fall 2010 collection for last night's Chanel Soho Boutique Re-Opening in New York.

While I'm usually a huge fan of the actress's style, which usually consists of classic cuts and styles with a fresh twist, I can't help but think she looked like a blob of crinkled tissue paper in this dress.

Diane's messy updo certainly didn't help matters any.

Would you dare to wear this look?

Cannes Film Festival (Weekend Highlights)

Posted by babu 10:57am GMT

Celebs continued to pull out all the stops during the Cannes Film Festival this past weekend. Some of my favorite looks included those of Diane Kruger, who rocked a hot pink and black Jason Wu gown, Salma Hayek, who looked regal in Gucci Première, and Kate Beckinsale, in a multi-tiered Nina Ricci number.

Less impressive was Kirsten Dunst, who wore a baby blue Chanel gown tucked sloppily under her chest.
