Colorful Styles at the 2011 CFDA Fashion Awards

Posted by babu 2:26pm GMT

Celebs attempted to "outbright" one another in a variety of primary and tropical shades at the 2011 CFDA Fashion Awards.

Some of the more notable looks included those of Jessica Alba (who worked her maternity glow in a color-blocked Diane Von Furstenberg gown), Liv Tyler (who was polished to perfection in a puzzle-print Proenza Schouler ensemble) and Chanel Iman (who looked like she'd just come from a St. Tropez model shoot in a turquoise maxi dress and gold sandals).

Also part of the red-carpet rainbow were Emmanuelle Chriqui (who oozed sex appeal in a sunny, bright-yellow mini and multicolored heels) and Alessandra Ambrosio (who radiated in a neon-red gown accessorized with tribal jewelry).

Never one to miss out on a trend, Lady Gaga donned a turquoise wig to fit the occasion.

Who was your most beautiful in brights?

Red-Carpet Recap: 2011 CW Upfront Presentation

Posted by babu 6:28pm GMT

This year's CW Upfront Presentation yielded a parade of red (or green) carpet don'ts.

From Tyra Banks' busting blouse to Shenae Grimes' velvet poncho (with Jaime King's dated panty hose and AnnaLynne McCord's wrinkled maxi-skirt wedged in between), the only celeb with a look I didn't loathe was Rachel Bilson.

She kept it simple and summery in a white sheath and and nude platforms.

Red-Carpet Recap: "Something Borrowed" Premiere (Los Angeles)

Posted by babu 6:32pm GMT

Kate Hudson has such amazing maternity style (much thanks to all the breezy maxi dresses and empire-waist evening gowns) that I selfishly wish she were pregnant more often.

Not surprisingly, the "Something Borrowed" star (who, in my opinion, is looking even better this pregnancy than the last) radiated at her film's premiere in Los Angeles, wearing a lemon custard-colored, chiffon Versace gown with playful cutouts in back.

She was joined by costar Ginnifer Goodwin (who looked spunky in a houndstooth-print Herve Leger by Max Azria bodice), as well as actress Hilary Swank (who kept it casual-chic in a Michael Kors ensemble) and reality-tv star Kristin Cavallari (who popped in a mosaic-beaded dress and magenta sandals).

Red-Carpet Recap: Us Weekly's 2011 Hot Hollywood Party

Posted by babu 6:03pm GMT

Stars got leggy in a variety of colorful minis and bodices at Us Weekly's 2011 Hot Hollywood Party.

Some of my favorite looks of the night included those of Jessica Szohr (who, against all odds, managed to pull off a see-through, lace LBD and oxfords with flying colors; bonus points for the bright shadow!), Dania Ramirez (who proved a temptress in a teal bodice with basket-weave detailing), Jessica Simpson (who showed off her slim bod in a tribal-print Etro dress and platforms), Garcelle Beauvais (who looked exotic in a tangerine sheath and multicolored feather earrings) and Camila Alves (who looked red-hot in a corseted Dolce & Gabbana bodice and sequined pumps).

Red-Carpet Recap: 2011 Time 100 Gala

Posted by babu 3:26pm GMT

The 2011 Time 100 Gala, held in honor of the world's most influential people, took place at Lincoln Center in New York last night.

Some of the more notable celeb styles to surface from the event included those of Blake Lively (who debuted a red 'do in a cream and seafoam-green ombre Zuhair Murad gown), Anna Kendrick (who rocked a plunging Z Spoke by Zac Posen LBD and basic black pumps) and Kerry Washington (who radiated in an abstract Malandrino gown and gold peep-toes).

While I loved both Blake and Kerry's evening looks, I couldn't help but think Anna's ensemble was a little off (as usual). Perhaps if she'd done something with her hair and accessorized beyond her gold earrings and ring, she would've made a bigger, better impression.

Red-Carpet Recap: "Scream 4" Premiere (Los Angeles)

Posted by babu 2:22pm GMT

Celebs spiced things up in a variety of revealing sheaths at the "Scream 4" premiere in Los Angeles.

Some of my favorite looks of the evening included those of the film's star Courteney Cox (who proved she's still got it in a lacy halter LBD from the Olsen sisters' line The Row), Kristen Bell (who was a splash of color in a cobalt cutout dress from Vanessa Bruno) and Hayden Panettiere (who was right on a trend for spring in a bright orange mini dress created by Zac Posen).

Arielle Kebbel (in a simple, yet sassy Gomez-Gracia sheath) and Anna Paquin (in a belly-baring Cushnie et Ochs LBD) also made my "HIT" list for the night.

Red-Carpet Recap: Nickelodeon's 2011 Kids' Choice Awards

Posted by babu 5:27pm GMT

Starlets kept it clean (and cool) at Nickelodeon's 2011 Kids' Choice Awards.

Some of the most notable red-carpet looks included those of Heidi Klum (who looked chic, and a bit edgy, in a Gucci LBD with heavy embellishments along the shoulders and collar and platform wedges), Selena Gomez (who kept it casual in a pastel-splashed, geometric tank and short ensemble from Christian Cota) and Miley Cyrus (who ditched her hipster duds for a breezy Dolce & Gabbana maxi dress).

The Hilton sisters looked abnormally conservative (and un-flashy), blending into the background in neutral dresses and accessories.

Red-Carpet Recap: 2011 Academy of Country Music Awards

Posted by babu 1:14pm GMT

Country crooners flocked to Las Vegas last night to attend the 2011 Academy of Country Music (ACM) Awards.

Some of the night's most notable looks included those of Julianne Hough (who proved a pop of color in a tangerine Randi Rahm halter gown with allover floral embroidering and a sexy, exposed back), "Entertainer of the Year" winner Taylor Swift (who showed off her softer side in a pastel yellow Elie Saab gown with a lace overlay featuring intricate beading and chiffon, flower appliques along the neckline and hem) and Carrie Underwood (who looked vibrant in a violet-hued Jean Fares Couture gown with floral appliques along what appeared to be hidden pockets). While I loved the rich hue and girly details on Carrie's gown, I don't think the loose fit or style did anything for her athletic figure (especially in the chest area).

Reese Witherspoon wore a tulle and lace bandage-style sweetheart dress from Marchesa, which I loved but thought could have used a little more definition. Not surprisingly, Nicole Kidman opted for a snakeskin-leather L'Wren Scott bodice, which featured a built-in boa around the neck. While I didn't HATE her dress, I would've liked to have seen it paired with a more direct shoe, and not a dainty peep-toe.
