Dare to Wear: Jennifer Lopez

Posted by babu 11:26am GMT

Rihanna and Leona Lewis aren't the only singers with bellies to boast (see their cropped tops here).

No stranger to showing a little skin, J. Lo braved a bare midriff while visiting "EXTRA" in Los Angeles.

While the "American Idol" judge and mother of two certainly made her point (that being that she's "still got it") in this cropped top and short combo (complete with a plaid, cropped jacket and white platforms), I can't help but think her edgy ensemble belongs in Paula Abdul's closet, and certainly not on the red carpet.

Would you dare to wear this look?

Style Showdown: Jennifer Hudson vs. Jennifer Lopez

Posted by babu 4:11pm GMT

It's a battle of the Jennifers!

Jennifer Hudson wore this cool, leather Chloe dress to perform during Nickelodeon's Upfront presentation just two months after Jennifer Lopez went nude in the same dress for an episode of "American Idol."

While neither of the divas had any trouble pulling off the full-skirted mini marvel, I'm giving this one to J.Lo for her daring shoe choice (she wore leopard-print Christian Louboutin booties), and for getting to the dress first.

Who wore Chloe better?

Trend to Try: Color Blocking

Posted by babu 11:10am GMT

Much thanks to Gucci (the designer behind all four of the colorful creations above), fashion-forward celebrities like Camilla Belle, Katy Perry (pictured on the latest issue of Elle), Jennifer Lopez and Olivia Wilde are painting the red carpet with a rainbow of colors, the bolder the contrast the better.

Try livening up your neutrals with a saturated blouse or a blazer and, once you have a little experience under your belt, try your creative hand at a completely color blocked look.

Will you try this trend?

2011 Grammy Awards Red-Carpet Recap

Posted by babu 11:36am GMT

We can always count on Lady Gaga to liven up any red carpet, and she did not disappoint at this year’s Grammy Awards. The red-carpet renegade found the perfect way to wow the crowds while cleverly keeping her wardrobe under wraps until performance time… by arriving in an egg!

Not to be outshone by Gaga, fellow fashion rebels Nicki Minaj, Katy Perry and Rihanna stepped out in outrageous outfits designed by Givenchy, Giorgio Armani and Jean Paul Gaultier that looked more like Halloween costumes than haute couture. Seriously, we're talking leopard spots, angel wings and near nakedness!

Although not nearly as daring, celebs like Selena Gomez in J. Mendel and Jennifer Lopez in Emilio Pucci brought a touch of edgy elegance with glittering gowns.

Check out all the looks from this year’s Grammy red carpet here!

This Week's Fab Five

Posted by babu 11:16am GMT

This week was all about the perfect party dress. And the winners are...

Jennifer Lopez in Haute Hippie at the Venus Goddess Razor Global Ambassador unveiling. As usual, J.Lo achieved a head-to-toe glow in this nude blouse and sequined wrap-skirt dup, which she topped off with jewels and Christian Louboutin pumps.

Rachel Bilson in Burberry Prorsum at the "Waiting for Forever" premiere. Leather trimming added a sexy touch to this otherwise girly, ruffled-chiffon dress, which the actress topped off with ankle-strap pumps.

Heidi Klum in Rachel Roy at Lucky's March Issue Celebration. Posh gets a playful makeover in this magenta-streaked sheath. The fearless fashionista pumped up the volume even more with strappy sandals and a set of cage rings.

Ginnifer Goodwin in Monique Lhuillier at the Children Awaiting Parents event. The always put-together "Big Love" actress looked like a piece of art in this color-splashed and tinsel-accented, illusionary-inset dress, which she brightened up with red peep-toes.

Kim Kardashian in an asymmetrical gold mini at the Kardashian Glam Pack of Silly Bandz Launch Party. Kim appeared to be having a Lady Gaga moment in this origami-style, foam dress and, while somewhat out of character, I think her overall look (which also also consisted of gold jewel detailing and nude platforms) worked.

Which star's look is party-perfect?

Dare to Wear: Jennifer Lopez

Posted by babu 4:24pm GMT

Just when I decide to honor Jennifer Lopez by putting her on my best-dressed Golden Globes list, she goes and pulls this.

Worn to the FOX 2011 Golden Globes After Party, the singer's feathery Marchesa frock (which looked like it was stolen from the "Black Swan" set) read more frumpy than fab.

Would you dare to wear this look?

This Week's Fab Five

Posted by babu 12:51pm GMT

This week was all about sex appeal. And the winners are...

Gwyneth Paltrow
in Atelier Versace at the 2010 CMA Awards. I dare say it, but I don't think I've ever seen Gwyneth look this SEXY! High glamour meets guts in this gown, which features a beautifully-ruched, asymmetrical neckline and allover shimmer and daring cutouts along the ribcage and leg.

Fergie in Zac Posen at the 2010 Glamour Women of the Year Awards. I think this is the first time I've seen Fergie, who usually switches back and forth between megawatt metallics and pearly pastels (oh yeah, and of course BLACK) wear fire engine red, but now that I've seen how well she pulls it off, I hope she starts wearing it more often. She topped off her fiery feat with no other than flame-cutout platforms.

Kate Hudson
in Lanvin at the 2010 Glamour Women of the Year Awards. I don't know if it's her blonde hair or radiant complexion, but I just LOVE when Kate goes for the gold. In this asymmetrical gown, which featured allover shimmer and an exposed zipper down the side, and gold platforms the actress reminds me of an Emmy Award come to life.

Camilla Belle in Carolina Herrera at the 2010 Latin Grammy Awards. It's refreshing moments like these that bring me to seriously question whether it's possible for Camilla to have a bad day on the red carpet. The actress keeps her accessories to a minimum as to not compete with the gardenesque gown, which fits Camilla's tongue-in-cheek style to a T.

Jennifer Lopez in Andrew Gn at the 2010 Latin Grammy Awards. If this gown, which boasts a sexy keyhole in front, isn't a perfect J.Lo make, I don't know what is. The revealing bodice is countered with a conservative neckline and long sleeves, making for a sassy, yet still sophisticated, overall feel. I also love how the sequins meet their match in the heavily-embellished belt.

Which star's red carpet style is sexiest?

This Week's Fab Five

Posted by babu 12:19pm GMT

This week was all about old Hollywood glamour. And the winners are...

Keira Knightley in Valentino at the 2010 Rome Film Festival. Large rosette detailing and folding down the bodice add another level of intrigue to this whimsical gown, which happens to be my favorite of the five.

Jennifer Lopez in Georges Chakra Spring 2010 Couture at the 32nd Anniversary Carousel of Hope Gala. Allover guipure and sequined detailing add a fresh touch to this otherwise bridalesque gown, which leads into a heavy tulle train in back.

Freida Pinto in Christian Dior at the 2010 Doha Tribeca Film Festival. Always one to make an entrance, the intricate, multicolored bead detail on the top of Freida's mint-green chiffon gown is simply sensational.

Dita von Teese in Zuhair Murad at the amfAR Inspiration Gala. The femine shape of the black paneling underneath the sheer leopard overlay of this gown creates a modern-day Betty Boop effect that fits the Burlesque performer perfectly.

Eva Mendes in Atelier Versace at the “Last Night” Rome Film Festival. The fringed panels along this sparkling, champagne-colored gown (which boasted a sexy, open back) effectively highlight every one of Eva's assets.

Which star's retro style is most ravishing?

Red-Carpet Recap: 32nd Annual Carousel of Hope Ball

Posted by babu 12:43pm GMT

The 32nd Annual Carousel of Hope Ball was characterized by would-be bridal gowns and pops of red.

Some of my favorite looks included those of Jennifer Lopez (looking drop-dead gorgeous in an asymmetrical Georges Chakra Spring 2010 Couture gown), Halle Berry (looking red-hot in a silk YSL Pre-Fall 2010 gown ruched at the waist) and Brandy (glowing in a chiffon gown with criss-cross detailing along the bodice and beautiful beading along the sweetheart neckline).

While statement-making, both Hilton styles fell lower on the totem pole.

Which celeb's ball gown is most beautiful?

Style Showdown: Rihanna vs. Jennifer

Posted by babu 12:35pm GMT

This is Rihanna's second style showdown in one week, but this time, SHE'S the copying culprit.

Just a few months after J.Lo rocked an asymmetrical leather Lanvin dress to "The Back-Up Plan" UK premiere, Rihanna was spotted wearing the same edgy number while out and about in Hollywood.

I think the dress proved the perfect fit for both diva-licious ladies, so this one's a toss-up for me.

Who wore Lanvin better?
