Rule Breakers or Trend Makers: Dresses That Make the Cut

Posted by babu 5:57pm GMT

Ladies, if you like the look of the waist-revealing dresses that have been spotted on the red carpet recently, then make sure to carve out extra time for crunches at the gym.

In past seasons, celebs couldn't get enough of tent-like trapeze dresses, but those comfy styles are no longer en vogue, and in their place has emerged their polar opposite: skin-tight dresses with side-panel cutouts, as seen on stars Christina Ricci, Kim Kardashian (in a Wayne design), and singer Ciara.

What do you think of waist-revealing dresses?

Perfect Party Dresses at the MOCA 30th Anniversary Gala

Posted by babu 2:44pm GMT

Ladies, the holiday party season is upon us, and with New Year’s Eve on the heels of all those December festivities, it’s time to get all your party frocks in a row.

To help inspire you, here is a round up of the stars who sparkled at the MOCA (Museum of Contemporary Art) 30th Anniversary bash in L.A. on November 14 over the weekend.

Kate Beckinsale went for all out glam in a floor-grazing Andrew Gn silk dress for Spring 2010 with draping to die for and a teal shade that is so flattering for brunettes.

Christina Ricci’s Prada Spring 2010 LBD is a great example of understated chic with its retro bell shape and luxe fabric.

Eva Mendes’ tromp de l'oeil Miu Miu Spring 2010 dress combines a peachy feminine shade with black and crystal accents for a dress that would be a great investment to wear to parties year-round.

For those of you who have hit the gym all year, it’s time to show off your hard work with a skin-tight sheath like Ciara’s modern cut-out mini and perfect party shoes by Christian Louboutin.

But one of my personal favorite dresses from last night was Kate Bosworth’s versatile silk Proenza Schouler frock (Spring 2010) that looks amazing with Kate’s pointed patent heels, but I can’t wait to try the look with over-the-knee boots, tights and a well-cut menswear-inspired blazer.

Whose party frock do you prefer?

Trend to Try: Nude Heels

Posted by babu 11:01pm GMT

Stepping out in the nude was ideal for summer (check out when
January Jones topped off her sunshine yellow dress with buff heels), but few would have thought the style would carry over into cooler weather and still rule the red carpet.

During a recent chat with Eva Longoria Parker’s stylist Robert Verdi, the king of color says, “A neutral nude heel is unexpected – especially with bright dresses where people tend to lean towards a metallic shoe.”

So, as you start to shop for that holiday party dress this season, consider skipping all that’s silver and gold and get into the buff.

Do you own a pair of nude heels?

Style Showdown: Serena Williams vs. Ciara

Posted by babu 3:30pm GMT

Tennis pro Serena Williams recently paired her gold-sequined Gryphon tank with a black blazer and cropped pants for the "Whip It" premiere in Los Angeles. Singer Ciara wore the same tank with leather leggings to the "Orphan" premiere in Los Angeles in late July. For me, this one's a toss-up.

Which celeb looks more sultry in sequins?
