Fashion Formula: Ashley Simpson's Dark Obsession

Posted by babu 5:11pm GMT

Unlike her sister Jessica Simpson, Ashley Simpson-Wentz’s wardrobe seems almost void of any color. Perhaps it's her pop rock background or rocker husband Pete Wentz that is to blame for all the Goth looks in her closet.

But just because she’s addicted to the ease of black for the red carpet (everything matches!), doesn’t mean she doesn’t try new looks and mix up her style.

From her funky and flirty Catherine Malandrino shorts suit (September 23) to an adorable sheer lace mini dress by Jill Stuart (May 14), Mrs. Simpson-Wentz never seems to wear the same style twice, just the same color.

Her hair color is a completely different http://www.mylifetime.com/all-the-looks/hairs-the-scoop-blog/ashlee-simp... " target="_blank">story.

Have a favorite black look from Ashley’s closet, or don’t care for the shade? Tell us in the comment section below.

Fashion Formula: Robin Wright Penn's Bringing Sexy Back

Posted by babu 10:05pm GMT

I am going to leave out any “wash that man right out of my hair” speculation about Robin Wright Penn’s new darker ‘do at her “The Private Lives of Pippa Lee” premiere last night and focus on the recent change in her red carpet fashions.

The “Forrest Gump” star never made a big fashion statement in the past, as seen by her similar and safe dress choices in Cannes earlier this year, so could her sexy look be a signal for her recent singleton status?

Wright Penn first debuted her new found love of skin-tight black mini dresses at the Toronto Festival in September (a month after splitting from Sean Penn) and again last night in a black Herve Leger
bandage dress with minimal hair and make-up.

And, while there is no denying the 43-year-old looks stunning in her new clothes, the star could probably benefit from “how to dress sultry not slutty” advice from celeb peer Demi Moore
who always exudes sex appeal without revealing as much anatomical detail.

What do think of Robin's new sexier style?

Fashion Formula: Diane Kruger Takes a Bow

Posted by babu 7:13pm GMT

Diane Kruger’s style sense is one I admire because it always looks so right when you see it, yet it is so individual that it’s hard to replicate on your own.

One of the keys to Kruger’s unconventional red-carpet style is her love of bows – from Chanel
to Lanvin — that she’s worn in a variety of ways (check out those shoes!) since 2005.

While the accent is unexpected, the bows in Kruger’s looks always complement her outfits and never distract from the style or come off comical.

What do you think of Diane Kruger's bow accents?

Demi Moore: Miles of Style (and Jersey)

Posted by babu 3:05pm GMT

Demi Moore’s latest Greek goddess look at the Freedom Awards last night may evoke "bed sheet chic" for some, but I am digging the fluid shape, soft shade, and 70's-era disco glam factor. And Moore's statement necklace is the perfect on-trend touch.

Whether you are a fan or want to ban the languid look, we can all agree this latest dress is another shining example of Demi Moore's Fashion Formula.

Fashion Formula: Olivia Palermo's Mix-and-Match Style

Posted by babu 10:39pm GMT

Having a fashion formula doesn't mean being so predictable. Olivia Palermo may be the most-hated girl on MTV's "The City," but she's also the one with the wardrobe (and a unique sense of style) that everyone loves.

While the NYC socialite-model-publicist is never one to be caught in the same look twice, she does have a few fashion rules you can adopt to achieve her eclectic polished style:

1) Stock your closet full of classic foundations: the perfect white tee, versatile jackets, and lots of neutral grays.

2) An effortless mix of neutral shades (blacks, grays, whites and beiges) with a few touches of color from accessories (or even nails) looks great on everyone.

3) Forget about trying to match shoes and bags; that's so "Mad Men."

4) Mix and match accessories to transform a basic look into something unique and personal.

What do you think of Olivia Palermo's mix-and-match style?

Fashion Formula: Anna Wintour's A Repeat Offender

Posted by babu 10:54pm GMT

Looks like someone forgot to do more shopping during Fashion’s Night Out a few weeks ago.

Super style-maven and Vogue magazine's tippity-top editor Anna Wintour wore a unique snakeskin coat for the start of Paris Fashion Week today, but did she think we would not remember THAT coat from her appearances at the recent Milan, London and New York fashion weeks?

At least, in London, Anna accessorized with a dainty Blackberry, which helps balance the coat's subtle print (we kid), while in New York City at the Proenza Schouler show, she chose our favorite type of accessory: red carpet celebrity Rachel McAdams who seems a bit put off by the python pelt.

Would you ever wear Anna Wintour's slithery coat?

Fashion Formula: January Jones’ Waist-Cinching Modern Style

Posted by babu 1:25pm GMT

Not likely to be confused with the retro clothes made famous by her "Mad Men" character Betty (seen above left), actress January Jones' personal style on the red carpet is light years ahead of anything worn on the famous TV series. “I have to be careful not to wear a lot of '50s and '60s stuff to avoid looking like Betty in my everyday life,” she revealed to Marie Claire magazine.

From the shockingly fashion-forward white Versace gown she wore for the recent http://www.mylifetime.com/all-the-looks/all-the-looks-insider-blog/best-... " target="_ ">Emmys to a chic navy Andrew Gn dress with edgy patent cut-outs, Jones’ fashion formula is a combination of modern fabrics and details combined with body-conscious silhouettes.

While Jones' look is modern, it is also incredibly feminine due to her choice of waist-highlighting styles: “I do love looking like a lady in tailored clothes and cinched waists,” she says.

Fashion Formula: Demi Moore’s Asymmetrical Dresses

Posted by babu 5:35pm GMT

Talk about giving the cold shoulder! Well, in Demi Moore’s case, it’s the smoldering (as in stunning style) shoulder.

I’ve noticed that Mrs. Kutcher prefers single shoulder-baring styles for the red carpet; but when she showed up on August 6 for the HollyShorts Film Festival in LA in an orange J.Mendel asymmetrical dress, her Fashion Formula fate was sealed.

But this FF isn’t only for the super slim: Moore's preferred look also works for those with less than perfect proportions since the bold design detail can lead the eye up and away from, say, full hips.

Who should try this look: All ages; everyone with toned arms

Who should avoid it: Those who want to play down broad shoulders (avid swimmers and surfer girls, beware) or triceps that could benefit from a few more reps at the gym

Are you a fan of off-centered red carpet style?
