Rule Breakers or Trend Makers: Cool Coral

Posted by babu 8:22pm GMT

When I first saw Whitney Port
’s adorable peach Marc Jacobs
dress on the red carpet in Las Vegas, I loved it, but I definitely would not have predicted that the cool hue would become a hot color for fall.

At last night’s 13th Annual Hollywood Awards Gala, both Zooey Deschanel (in a Luella Spring 2010 design) and Julianne Moore picked pale peach dresses and chose black accents to set off the beautiful coral shade.

Part of pulling off this look just right lies in the right accessories: Choose either contrasting black to play up the color, or soft metallics that complement and won’t compete against the mouthwatering color.

How do you feel about pale peach for fall and winter?

Stars Show Louis Love

Posted by babu 10:48pm GMT

Oh Louis, Louis, how the stars adore you. Celebs showed their love of Louis Vuitton (designed by Marc Jacobs) by dressing in clothes from the past LV Fall 2009 collection to attend the LV Spring 2010 show during Paris Fashion Week.

Camilla Belle is all grown up in a lady-like peach and salmon ensemble (from Jacobs' LV Fall collection) with sophisticated touches of black and de rigueur dark shades to shield star eyes from paps.

"Slumdog Millionaire" actress Freida Pinto borrowed a skirt from the LV Fall runway and carried a magenta logo tote. Take a closer look at her wrap-around peep toe shoe-boots that will be a hot trend this winter.

English model Daisy Lowe (step-daughter of Gwen Stefani) paired her twirl skirt with a classic menswear tuxedo jacket and topped of the look with whimsical Louis Vuitton ballerina heels.

Leighton Meester continued her modern fashion streak in a belted black-and-bright shift and a trendy sock-and-strappy-heel combo perhaps inspired by the quirky city style of Gossip Girl’s Serena van der Woodson (aka
Blake Lively).

Now that you know what you want to wear from LV this fall, see what you WON’T be wearing from Marc’s latest LV offering for Spring 2010.

Hold on to Your Harem-Pants: Naomi Watts Keeps the Trend Alive

Posted by babu 12:52pm GMT

When uber-cool designer Marc Jacobs sent a model down a NYC runway on September 15 in harem-pants, I felt an uncomfortable twinge thinking the design-by-diaper style was going to stick around for another spring/summer season. But I quickly dismissed such a silly notion thinking Marc was just putting us on, until...I saw Naomi Watts in Spain on September 26 getting ahead of the fashion crowd with her own sleek lace-topped harem-jumpsuit.

While Watts does radiate in her look, I'm not ready to rush out to buy my own pair of poofy-pants. But I'm happy to be on any wait list that will deliver her perfect emerald clutch and stunning peony pink platforms.

What do you think of the harem-pants trend?

Dare to Wear: Lady Gaga

Posted by babu 2:00pm GMT

When it comes to style, it would take A LOT for Miss Gaga (I mean, this is the same woman who once wore a dress made of braided hair with matching dog-shaped purse, and is known to throw on an eye zipper or two) to surprise me.

I’m not sure how I feel about her latest look. Though the Marc Jacobs dress she’s shown wearing here at the IFA Fair in Berlin is by no means “safe,” it adds an air of sophistication to her look, and refuses to be upstaged by those hot pink tights (which she matches to her lipstick).

Would you dare to wear this look?
