Sneak Peek: Matthew Williamson for Macy's Capsule Collection

Wed., Mar. 16, 2011 ,5:44 pm EDT

Just one day after the much-anticipated launch of Target's Go International Designer Collective (when my designer collaboration high was beginning to wear off), Macy's revealed Matthew Williamson as the next designer in the Macy's Capsule Collection Series.

Matthew (whose celeb fan base includes Heidi Klum, Mila Kunis and Eva Longoria) is the second acclaimed fashion designer to take part in the designer capsule collection series for the retailer’s contemporary fashion ‘Impulse’ department. Since launching in February 2011 with Kinder Aggugini, the series has been developed into a collaboration featuring celebrated designers from around the globe, each offering limited-edition women’s apparel pieces reminiscent of the designer’s signature style.

The Matthew Williamson for Impulse collection will illustrate a bohemian mood and will feature sophisticated separates and collectible '70s-inspired dresses priced on average from $50 - $120, with specialty pieces selling up to $300 (the yellow dress [above left] retails for $109, and the maxi dress [above right] retails for $119). Key items will include bold, graphic animal-inspired print and embellished day and party dresses, bohemian blouses, printed scarves and flirty day-to-evening rompers, all with Matthew’s iconic styling.

The collection will be sold in approximately 225 Macy’s stores nationwide and on macys.com beginning April 13, 2011.
