Blame it on the "Black Swan" effect (which has also lead to an outpouring of feathered frocks on the red carpet), but celebs like Emma Roberts, Emma Stone and Eva Longoria have been pirouetting down the red carpet in a range of satin platforms.

While no doubt enchanting, I personally think that, when it comes to footwear, satin should be reserved for the ballet and bridal parties.
