Mondo Guerra

Mentor

Denver based fashion designer Mondo Guerra is no stranger to the runway. After a runner-up finish on Lifetime's "Project Runway" season eight, Mondo went on to claim victory on the debut season of "Project Runway All Stars." His innovative style and bold designs have captured the fashion world's imagination, while his work in HIV/AIDS education has helped cultivate the important conversation about the epidemic.

Mondo's exclusive collection of frames and sunglasses with optical boutique SEE Eyewear are available in stores nationwide. Inspired by 1960s TV shows and pop culture, the collection features playful prints and eye-catching frames, with a portion of sales benefiting amFAR.

In Spring 2014, Mondo and Crocs, a world leader in innovative casual footwear, will release the first designs of their collaboration. The two companies connected over their Colorado roots and aligned to share a vision of fun, colorful, comfortable shoes.

Mondo has also teamed up with Merck for I Design, a national education campaign underscoring the importance for people living with HIV/AIDS to talk with their doctors about personal treatment goals. Mondo courageously revealed his HIV-positive status on "Project Runway" season eight after he created the challenge-winning print "Pozitivity," inspired by his own experience with the virus. The disclosure came after more than 10 years of personal silence.

Mondo began his journey in the fashion industry as a teenager, constructing a pair of green, faux-fur pants as his first garment. He cultivated his design skills through his work as a milliner's apprentice, a junior wear designer and a costumer for a professional theater company. Mondo developed a reputation in Denver for his eccentric and eclectic personal style and started winning local design competitions. Encouraged by his success, he auditioned for "Project Runway."

Mondo continues to advocate for HIV/AIDS awareness with appearances throughout the country. He is also excited to offer the first designs on his eponymous personal label in 2014. Mondo and his Yorkie-Schnauzer, Gordi Jo, reside in Denver where he and his team strive to grow his brand and business.
