Lori Ann (Park Overall) arrives to help Reba (Reba McEntire) with the preparations for Cheyenne's (Joanna Garcia) baby shower. Cheyenne complains that she and Van (Steve Howey) need a car, and Reba reminds her of the family rule: Brock (Christopher Rich) and Reba will get Cheyenne a car when she can pay for half. Brock mentions to Reba that he wants to buy Cheyenne a big screen television for her shower gift, but Reba encourages him to buy something more practical. The next day at the shower, Cheyenne is delighted with Reba's gift: a hand sewn quilt. But Reba's gift is trumped when Brock presents Cheyenne with a used car. Reba corners Brock in the kitchen and tells him he broke the family rule. Brock agrees to tell them the car must stay in the garage until they earn half of the cost: $3000. The expectant couple unhappily agrees but blames Reba.
Van gets a job at the local pizza shop, but because he can't use the car to make deliveries, Reba ends up driving him around in her car and doing most of the work. Reba agrees to have Cheyenne do errands around the house for pay, but Cheyenne ends up ruining clothes and dishes. One night after Reba is exhausted from Van's pizza runs and picking up after Cheyenne, Cheyenne hands over $100 to Brock and Reba. Reba writes a check to the couple for $2900, saying it is her shower gift to them. The ecstatic couple thanks Reba for the car and hands the check to Brock. When Cheyenne and Van go look at their new car, Reba snatches the check back from a baffled Brock. She says she just got credit for the car that Brock gave them, and for once she is not the bad cop.
