QDescribe your family. AMy family is a traditional and loving family. My mom and dad have been married for 30 years. I am the oldest of two siblings. I have a younger brother and a younger sister who is the mother of my beautiful 7-month-old niece.
QCurrent occupation? AI am the Creative Director for a private label crafting/accessories brand that sells to large fabric/craft retail chains and other mass-market retailers. I am also a part-time draping professor at a Dallas fashion school.
QPast jobs? ASales Associate at a high-end fabric store, Richard Brooks Fabrics in Dallas. Product Development Manager at a Dallas based apparel line. I’ve had my fair share of “labor” jobs such as a waiter at Red Lobster, dog-bather at a Grooming Salon, wheelchair aid at the airport, guest service at a homeless shelter and many others.
QPets? AI have a beautiful Siberian Husky named Lucian after the “Underworld” trilogy.
QNicknames? A"E" - my professor in college could not pronounce my name correctly so she just started calling me “E” and it caught on. All of my classmates knew me as “E”. "Manny" and "Eman" both given to me by different friends.
QWhen did you realize you had designer potential? AI never thought I would be a fashion designer but for my sister’s quinceanera, I designed her dress and found someone to make it. After going through that process I thought that I had potential to become a designer and make money doing something that I would enjoy.
QFirst garment you ever made? AA mint dress created by using three colors of chiffon with pleated godets around the lower half. (The godets were pleated triangles inserted in between two seams.)
QWhat's your design training/schooling, etc.? AI received an AAS in Pattern Design from El Centro Community College and a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Fashion Design from The University of North Texas.
QHave you won any awards for your designs/work related to design? AYes, 1st Place in Eveningwear at Fashion Group International’s Career Day Competition, 1st Place Vitamin Water Uncapped Dallas, 2nd Place Scion Driving Fashion, Best of Show Fashion Group International Career Day Competition, Most Creative at UNT’s ARTWEAR competition.
QStrengths as a designer? AI am able to execute my vision as a designer with superb quality and knowledge of textiles.
QWeaknesses as a designer? AAs a designer I sometimes procrastinate until I feel inspired, but under pressure I feel that I am the most creative.
QWhat are your influences? AIn the past I was influenced by dark imagery, fantasy art, and spirituality, and now it is a mix that includes street culture, androgyny, fine textiles, and prints.
QWhat's playing on your iPod when you're designing? AIt’s a mix of dance music and queen-y music, Christina, Beyonce, Rihanna, Gaga, Kylie Minogue, Robyn, RiRi, Iggy Azalea, Azalea Banks, Kelis. Booty-poppin’ hip-hop, Drake, and Spanish/Latin pop, plsu some Belinda and Paulina Rubio.
QFavorite material or fabric to work with? ADouble wool crepe.
QItem you're most proud of designing? AA jacket made out of silk gazaar and silk organza with over 100 pieces of puzzled seams and piping on each seam.
QFavorite designer(s)? AChado Ralph Rucci, Alexander McQueen, Cristobal Balenciaga.
QSketch or drape? ADrape.
QPatterns or solids? ATo me patterns are always more interesting.
QFavorite colors? AMint green or turquoise.
QBiggest fear as a designer? AFor my work to not ever be known.
QFashion must? AA crisp tailored/fitted blazer.
QFashion faux pas that drives you crazy? AWhite socks with sport sandals.
QUgliest item of clothing/accessory you've worn? AI don’t remember ever wearing something that was regrettably ugly. If it was I probably rocked it in that time period!
QFavorite style icon? ATilda Swinton.
QWhat would you design for the First Lady? AI would definitely design a gown for her to wear to the Presidential Inaugural Ball.
QCelebrity you wish you could design for? ATilda Swinton. A very sexy mannish jacket that is sheer in the back with a custom wild dark print and some sleek pants that button at the hem.
QFavorite supermodel muse? AIman.
QIf you had to name your label, you'd call it... AEMMANUEL TOBIAS for my high-end womenswear line and EMANCANDY for my men’s fun line with accessible price points.
QIf you weren't designing, you'd be... AI wish I had a voice so I could be a singer.

QHow were you described as a kid? AAs a child, I was a boy who loved playing outside, running, climbing trees, and always clumsy with lots of accidents and scars. In high school, I had very few friends and I became a loner, an outsider looking in. I always watched people and observed everyone’s behavior around me.
QHow are you described by your family and friends? AI am very loved and love my friends and family. I am fun around them, known as a glamorous person, and childlike in many ways. Actually I am a big kid!
QWhy do you think you're easy to live with? AI am easy-going and clean for the most part. I don’t really argue and I get along with everyone pretty well.
QFavorite hangout? AI like to kiki at Gloria’s on Lemmon, they serve the strongest margaritas. I go there with my friends any random night of the week.
QHobbies? AHiking, painting, cooking an awesome elaborate meal.
QFavorite movies and TV shows? QHow did you end up auditioning for PR? AI found about it late and I submitted the day the audition tapes were due so I made a fast, creative, and genuine audition tape. Yes I had auditioned when PR was on Bravo. I think it was Season 6 and 7.
QFavorite past PR designer? AAnya Young Chee and Anthony Ryan.
QChallenge you wish they'd bring back? A"Designer’s Best Friend," where they designed for dogs and their owners.
QChallenge you hope they don't? AThe challenge where they had to design something with the clothes off their backs.
QYour take on team challenges: AHate is an ugly word. I don’t like team challenges because someone always carries the weight of another designer and sometimes the wrong person gets sent home.
QWhat do you look for in a model? AI like unique girls with weirdly beautiful faces. Not the pretty girls. The most important thing when I choose models are their features, height and the attitude they carry when they walk.
QDo you think you can win "Project Runway"? AYES. I don’t think I would ever audition if I felt I wasn’t ready to WIN. I am a very fierce competitor and I have an exceptional skill level to my craft.
