When did you realize you had designer potential?

When I began turning my sketches into reality.

First garment you ever made?

Pink Santa skirts for my high school cheerleading squad.

What's your design training/schooling, etc.?

Three years at Columbia College in Chicago.

Have you won any awards for your designs/work related to design?

I recently won the Future of Chicago Fashion Award.

Strengths as a designer?

My strengths as a designer are my unexpected use of textiles and manipulation of the silhouette.

Weaknesses as a designer?

My inability to use bright colors is my weakness that I am working hard to overcome.

What are your influences?

Dark, ominous shapes and asymmetry have always influenced me.

What's playing on your iPod when you're designing?

Anything from the Scissor Sisters and Stevie Nicks to club and house music.

Favorite material or fabric to work with?

Heavyweight black cotton canvas.

I have no item specifically, I am proud that I am able to follow my dream of design and make my visions reality.

I'm never home enough to tick anyone off!

Any bar with booty-shaking music!


Creating costumes for drag queens. I'm always designing.

I love "Nosferatu," Bram Stoker's "Dracula," and any Lars von Trier film. I don't have cable so I don't watch TV.

I love Steig Larsson's "Girl with the Dragon Tattoo" series.

How did you end up auditioning for PR?

One of my professors at school forwarded me the application, and I went for it. It was my first time auditioning.

Hands down, Christian Siriano!

Hardware store challenge.

The challenge where the only materials you can use are the clothes off your back.

Your take on team challenges:

It all depends who is on my team, however I like the idea of being able to bounce ideas around and collaborating to make a strong look.

What do you look for in a model?

When choosing a model, height and strong stoic facial features are crucial because it depicts the kind of woman I see in my garments.

Do you think you can win "Project Runway"?

I know I can win "Project Runway." I’m bringing the experimental edge this season and through my vision and ambition I will be the last man standing.
