He won the first ever challenge in "Project Runway" history, snagged the silver medal on "Project Runway All Stars" last month and now, Austin Scarlett is unveiling the launch of his new signature evening and wedding gown collection, AUSTIN SCARLETT, which will debut Fall 2012 at New York Bridal Fashion Week.
The collection will make its first appearance at the Neiman Marcus Flagship Store in Dallas this fall and beginning this October, the gowns will be available through specialty boutiques and select department stores nationwide. Ken Downing, Fashion Director of Neiman Marcus and "Project Runway All Stars" guest judge, describes the collection as: "Modern romanticism with a touch of sweet nostalgia, Austin Scarlett creates memorable brides with his signature feminine flourishes, love of glamour and a healthy dose of drama!"
Austin first gained recognition for his love of all things evening wear and couture on the original season of "Project Runway," later going on to join bridal-design house Amsale as Creative Director of its luxury gown collection, Kenneth Pool, where he designed over six seasons of gowns from Spring 2006 to Spring 2009. It's time to make it work! The Emmy® Award nominated series, "Project Runway," will kick off its ninth season with 20 talented designers – the most in series history – beginning Thursday, July 28 at 9 pm/8c on Lifetime Television. In the show’s 90-minute format, the new crop of designers will encounter host Heidi Klum, mentor Tim Gunn and judges Michael Kors and Nina Garcia and top-name guest designers and judges from the worlds of fashion, film and television, including Kim Kardashian, Christina Ricci, Zoe Saldana and Malin Akerman, as they face inventive challenges, unexpected eliminations and other surprises along the way.
In a "Project Runway" first, during the premiere episode, 20 designers must go in front of Heidi, Michael, Nina and Tim to make a case why they deserve one of the 16 coveted spots this season. Once they are chosen, the 16 designers barely have a chance to celebrate before being awoken at the crack of dawn with one of the toughest first challenges in the series’ history.
