Mondo Designs Exclusive T-shirts for Piperlime Launching on World AIDS Day
SAN FRANCISCO, November 23, 2010 -- Piperlime, the online shop known for the freshest styles in fashion, has teamed up with Lifetime’s "Project Runway" sensation Mondo Guerra to support and raise awareness for amfAR, The Foundation for AIDS Research.
Mondo has designed two limited-edition T-shirts (300 of each design) available exclusively on piperlime.com. The designs infuse Mondo’s bold style and energetic graphics with his “Live and Love” passion. The designs are printed on Nation LTD. T-shirts and will be sold for $50.00 on piperlime.com starting December 1, 2010 in conjunction with World AIDS Day. Twenty dollars of every T-shirt sold will be donated to amfAR an organization devoted to ending the global AIDS epidemic through innovative research.
A "Project Runway" finalist and fan favorite, Mondo is using his newfound celebrity to help gain awareness of a cause close to his heart. Mondo first announced he was HIV positive during a Season 8 episode and has been a vocal advocate of AIDS research.
“I believe fashion can serve a purpose so I designed these T-shirts with the idea of loving and communicating with one another,” said Mondo Guerra. “The tree is a symbol of growth and loving yourself and the skull represents family and friends and remembering those who have passed,” he continued.
Piperlime first joined forces with "Project Runway" as the official retail partner of Season 8.
“We were moved by Mondo’s revelations on the show and completely inspired by his designs,” said Jennifer Olsen, Vice President of Marketing at Piperlime. “We saw this as an amazing opportunity to bring his unique talent to his many fans and share his message,” she continued.

"Project Runway" Season 7 designer Ping Wu made her mark as one of the more colorful characters from her season. Whether it was her lax design style (Fitting her own body instead of a dress form? Excessive fabric use?) or her workroom showdown with team challenge partner Jesse LeNoir, she certainly stood out!
Since her "Project Runway" farewell, Ping says she "has continued building relationships with high end boutique stores in major cities across the country, and [is] looking forward to working with a reputable showroom in NYC in January."
"I am moving to California during the winter season. I hope this experience will bring some new inspiration to my work and life. I'm looking forward to my return trips to Paris and some Scandinavian countries next year, too. I might accept the offer I had postponed for in a Buddhist temple in southwest China during the summertime."

The Germans do not mess around when it comes to keeping their promises! In the Season 8 finale showdown between Team Gretchen (Michael Kors and Nina Garcia) and Team Mondo (Jessica Simpson and Heidi Klum), "I'd like to see you wear that dress, Klum!" was the dare heard 'round the world about Mondo Guerra's finale polka dot dress. ...The time has come!
I'm on the fence about seeing Michael's suggestion of removing the sleeves come to life here on Heidi. It almost makes it less formal. What do you think of the modification?
Now all we need is Miss Simpson to step up to the plate! For more Team Mondo, visit Mondo Guerra's official site, lovemondotrasho.com.
"Project Runway" Season 8 Designer Mondo Guerra has an advantage over some of the other contestants when it comes to being judged. After auditioning and not making it onto Season 7, he has experience in listening to critiques and "making it work." Mondo has come a long way since his early designing days as a high school raver with a glue gun and some thrift-store finds; he's become someone who "knows how to sew" just ask the casting-session critics!
Take a tour around Mondo Guerra's Denver, Colorado, casa we'll let you decide for yourself (and Mondo's mom) whether his walls are "pink" or "raspberry fizz." Then, check out more of his bright, kooky designs in his portfolio and photo gallery of past work.
