Mondo says: "I loved having the unconventional challenge right off the gate, because it was a good way to set the tone for the entire season. I loved the idea of the dollar store because you know what? I shop at the dollar store so I kind of knew what I wanted to get and what I could work with.

I loved the look, but the way it read on television wasn’t as strong as in person. You couldn’t see the stripes on the bustier and all the details I did because it was black-on-black which is always kind of risky on TV. I thought it was cute and kind of quirky without being in-your-face. I don’t think people expected to see an all-black outfit from me in the first challenge. It was received well by the judges and I really enjoyed the process of being inspired by the work we brought which was, I will say, a very good twist.

That was also the first time I got to work with my model, Jessamine Kelley, who has become a very close friend of mine."
