The ideal eating occasion for the couples featured on "Love Handles: Couples in Crisis" was one serving each of carb, plus protein, healthy fat and unlimited vegetables. The couples were not told what to eat, but were allowed to pick from each category.

Here are some additional eating occasion ideas for you to try from featured "Love Handles: Couples in Crisis'" dietitian, Ashley Koff, RD:

Breakfast:
1 hardboiled egg, 1/2 banana
Lunch:
4 oz. Ahi tuna, steamed veggies, 1/2 cup brown rice
Snack:
1 peach, 1 serving string cheese
Dinner:
4 oz. sashimi, spinach with ponzu, cucumber, seaweed salad, 1/2 cup edamame

Snack options:
2/3 cup mixed fruit, 1/2 cup cottage cheese, 1/8 cup pistachios
Oatmeal (with water, cinnamon and 1 tsp. honey) with 1-2 egg whites or 2 tbsp. hemp seeds
High fiber cereal with some nuts (homemade trail mix)
Whole grain waffle with some nut butter and sliced strawberries
Egg whites with mustard and spinach scrambled and 1 apple


Additional meal ideas:
Chicken sausage in a whole wheat/corn tortilla (small size) with lettuce or spinach, plus some mustard or chicken sausage cut up with sweet potato
Hummus with veggies
Half turkey sandwich on whole grain bread
Tacos: You can have the tortilla OR you could do a lettuce wrap or taco salad and then have berries for dessert. Tacos can include ground turkey or white fish, tomatoes, guacamole or avocado, pinch of cheese, tortilla (optional)
Turkey meatloaf or turkey burgers: Or mini burgers with spaghetti squash or okra. This allows for a dessert, like one small cookie or a baked apple
Stir-fry vegetables with a piece of fish, and then have a carb choice for dessert like berries or two small cookies or one scoop (1/2 cup) of low-fat ice cream

Sweet ideas:
Baked apple with walnuts/pistachios, cinnamon and Stevia (if extra sweetness is needed)
In a blender: plain organic Greek yogurt, Stevia, blueberries and vanilla (liquid, not powder). You can enjoy this frozen or refrigerated
Frozen fruit mixed with 1-2 Tbsp of 100% cocoa powder and 1 tsp honey. Let the fruit defrost and mix all of these together
1 packet chocolate almond butter spread on 1 banana sliced lengthwise spread. Fold together like a sandwich and freeze in waxed paper (1/2 is a serving)
