An affable, hardworking young lawyer, Grayson Kent (Jackson Hurst) accepted a position at Harrison & Parker after the death of his beloved fiancee, Deb. Unbeknownst to him, Deb was working right alongside him...albeit in the body of another lawyer, Jane. Grayson and Deb-as-Jane became fast friends as Grayson started taking on cases and getting more comfortable at the firm. But while Jane tried to work up the courage to confess to Grayson her true identity, Grayson started to work through his grief and decided to embark on a new relationship with Jane's professional rival Kim. Grayson's still-palpable grief over Deb's death made him a pretty terrible boyfriend, though, so Kim decided to call it quits. A pregnancy scare nearly forced the two back together, but Grayson ended the season the way he started it: Single, grieving, and still in the dark regarding Jane's secret.
When Jane faced the possibility of disbarment at the start of Season 2, Grayson convinced Parker to represent her. Jane and Grayson continued to work cases together. During a murder trial, they met Vanessa, a whip-smart lawyer for the opposition. A few awkward moments between Vanessa and Grayson weren't enough to outweigh their obvious chemistry, and the pair started to date. Things progressed quickly until, on the brink of a breakup, Grayson decided to fully commit to Vanessa and proposed. First on the to-do list: A dinner with Jane, where he asked her to be his best man at the wedding. But when lovesick Jane stormed out of the restaurant, Grayson chased after her, only to be hit by a van in the middle of the street. Lying in a puddle of blood, he smiled up at Jane and said, "Deb," before closing his eyes.
But if Grayson actually did experience a revelation about Jane's identity, he forgot it when the accident sent him into a brief coma. Released from the hospital, Grayson was determined not to let more time slip away from him; he and Vanessa began to plan in earnest for their nuptials. But even Jane's support couldn't stabilize their relationship. Vanessa left Grayson at the altar. Through the end of Season 3 and into Season 4, Grayson's friendship with Jane deepend, and he dabbled more in dating outside the office. But things got more complicated when he successfully defended Stacy after she was arrested for assault. She kissed him, and even though both knew it was a mistake, Jane still saw it happen.
In the Season 4 finale, Jane was poised to marry her fiance, a judge named Owen. In a heartfelt conversation before the ceremony, Grayson admitted that he was able to move on from Deb because he found Jane, and the two (finally!) kissed. The shock of seeing his bride-to-be in the arms of another man gave Owen a heart attack -- and sent the real Jane's previously heaven-bound soul into his body.

Jane Bingum (Brooke Elliott) is a brilliant, thoughtful but shy attorney, with the spirit of a vapid, outgoing model wannabe (Deb Dobkins) inside, brought together through a heavenly mix-up. Engaged to Grayson, Deb's life was tragically cut short when she died in a car accident, only to come back as plus-size lawyer, Jane. With guardian angel Fred by her side, Jane has to learn how to navigate life...as someone else.
In the first season finale, just as Jane thought Grayson was falling for her as Jane, not Deb, we learned that Jane was secretly was married to Ethan. In the second season it was revealed that Jane only married Ethan so he could get insurance for cancer treatments, but he left a month after they were married. They eventually got divorced and Jane went back to dating fellow lawyer, Tony. Tony asked Jane to move to D.C. with him, but she said that she belongs at her current firm with Stacy and Grayson.
By the end of the third season, Jane still hadn't confessed to Grayson her true identity (And Grayson even had partial memory loss because he got run over by a van!), and started dating Judge Owen French, who she eventually got engaged to. And as luck would have it, at the same time, Grayson finally realized that Jane was Deb. Also in the fourth season, it was revealed that the spirit of the real Jane was in heaven watching in disgust as Deb used her body and life, and decided that it's time to regain her old life. Everything came to a head in the Season 4 finale when Grayson confessed to Jane that he loves her, kissed her...only to have Owen walk in on them. Owen had a heart attack and the real spirit of Jane entered his body.

You asked for it, you got it! "Drop Dead Diva" will make it's official Season 5 debut on Sunday, June 23, at 9/8c. The series' fifth season opener, entitled "Back from the Dead," picks up from last season’s cliff hanger finale with Jane frantically searching for her missing fiancé Owen, who disappeared after witnessing her kiss Grayson moments before their wedding. (Watch that all go down here.)
While both Jane and Owen nurse their broken hearts, Jane’s friends and co-workers also are confronted with their own life dilemmas. Kim goes public with her pregnancy at the firm as Grayson continues to struggle with his feelings for Jane. Meanwhile, Stacy (Bowlby) is left contemplating the future of her business, The Pakery. Newcomer Justin Deeley joins "Drop Dead Diva" as Jane’s new heavenly guide Paul, stepping in for Luke when he is called back to Heaven just after telling her that Old Jane has returned to earth. Now that Jane and Old Jane are both on earth, the two kindred spirits will finally meet face-to-face, creating one of the most highly anticipated "Drop Dead Diva" moments ever.
John Ratzenberger will return this season to reprise his role as Kim’s father, while Jamie Ray Newman is back as Grayson’s ex-fiancée Vanessa, further complicating his heart. Other guest stars for season five will be announced in the coming weeks.
And there you have it! Give me your reactions, people! What do you think will happen in Season 5? Will Jane get together with Grayson? Or will she try to work things out with Owen?

Without a doubt, the Season 4 finale was "Drop Dead Diva's" biggest cliffhanger yet. And what better person to dish on the episode that Lex Medlin (aka Owen), whose character is now in an interesting situation, to put it lightly:
Cellie asks, "Will we be seeing Owen in women's clothing now that old Jane has taken over his body?"
I doubt it Cellie. I would think it would be more about old Jane living in men clothing. BUT I love women's clothing! I wear them whenever I can ... wait ... did I just say that out loud? Crap.
"I love you Owen," Rosa says, "Are you excited about the twist in your role? Though I'm hoping it was one of Jane's dreams."
Owen loves you too Rosa. I'm very intrigued about the twist. We'll have to see which way the writers/producers go though. One of Jane's dreams? That's a possibility. It sure seemed like she had many dream sequences this season. Hmm...
Cin wants your hypothesis on Owen's "death."
Well Cin, about his death there is no hypothesis. Dude died of a heart attack. The aftermath? I'm in the same boat as you. Waiting to find out. When we shot the last scene it seemed like Jane ended up in Owen's body, but the final edit seemed to be much more open to other possibilities. I'm very, very curious myself.
Jessica asks, "How do you like the challenge of acting like a serious female lawyer?"
Ooooh Jessica. As an actor I would LOVE to play a woman in a man's body. In my real life I have a wonderful wife and two beautiful daughters. Needless to say I have an incredible respect for women. I would want to play it with out it being campy or cliche. BUT we have to see if that's the direction it's going to go or not. If it is I will talk with Brooke and Josh Berman and get as much info on old Jane as possible. Then I would work up the character in an acting class or with a coach for 2-3 months. If I'm still Owen again (the male version) I would try to develop him some more. I like that dude. Either way I just wanna stay employed #omgKidsAreExpensive
And lastly, I (selfishly) want to know: "What are your hope for Season 5? In your perfect world, what would happen to Owen?"
I can honestly say my only hopes for Season 5 at this point is we have a Season 5. I'm not looking past that at the moment. In a perfect world? Hmm... I guess Owen would have married Jane and had the house and kids they talked about and conquered the legal world. But I think Jane would always be conflicted with her love for Grayson. Messy, messy, messy. I LOVE IT!
One more message from Lex:
Lastly, a shout out to all the fans. Can't tell you how many times I've been with the cast and we talk about how great you people are. I've been a working actor for over 20 years now and I've worked on countless shows. "Diva's" fan base is special. Thanks for all the support for the show and thanks for welcoming me into the "Diva" family. Have a great off season! I hope to be answering more of your questions next summer.
