Countdown to Season 7: Spotlight on Joan
Career-driven Joan Burton (Wendy Davis) defied expectations and rose through the ranks, becoming Fort Marshall's first African American female lieutenant colonel. But that didn't come without a priceshe often found herself torn between her career and husband, Roland, the sole "Army Husband."
The couple's struggles were played out in Season 1. In the pilot, Joan returned home from a two-year deployment, suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder. Feeling alone, Roland had a one-night stand, and later confessed his actions to Joan. While the two contemplated divorce, they eventually reconciled when Joan realized she was pregnant with their daughter Sara Elizabeth. The couple later adopted their HIV-postive son, David.
In Season 4, she was re-deployed to Iraq and suffered an eye injury after her patrol came under attack from an IED. When she returned to Fort Marshall, she was diagnosed with a traumatic brain injury. She then received the additional duty of Garrison Commander.
In Season 6, David’s biological father Marcus came back into the picture. Hesitant at first to let him into their lives, Joan and Roland eventually showed compassion to Marcus. Joan also revealed that season that she's not always been so strong. In a pivotal Season 6 moment, she confessed to Roland that she had a drug problem in high school.

Joan Opens Up About Traumatic Brain Injury
Last night's all-new episode of "Army Wives" finally revealed what was really going on with Joan. Even though the Lieutenant Colonel thought she dodged the worst during her RPG incident while serving in Iraq, she is now shocked by the news that, six months later, she is suffering from Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI), a problem that faces many soldiers returning from Afghanistan and Iraq. In the "Army Wives" home movie below, Joan talks about TBI and how the injury has changed her life and identity.

"Army Wives" Season 3 Finale Thoughts
We told you the finale would be dramatic! We bet you believe us now! Did Jeremy shoot himself while his parents were right outside the house? Will Joan survive the enemy attack? Are the Morans done for good? Wow! So much drama. At least the LeBlancs got good news about Roxy expecting a little one and Michael got his big promotion. But what havoc Lenore Baker will cause for the Holdens now that she’s back is anybody’s guess! Oh, how we missed Lenore and her evil antics. She always keeps things lively. Remember how she made up that rumor that Michael wasn’t Amanda’s dad? So vicious, but that’s why we love to hate her.
Now it’s time to vote in our weekly poll. If you want to catch an encore of the finale, you can watch it online starting on Monday. (It’ll be up for 30 days, so enjoy!) And as we’ve said before, keep coming back to the blog to get updates on the next season we’ll be posting all year long and we want to keep hearing from you. Now, time for the poll, so have at it!
Episode 8 Recap: the Sauciest Episode Yet?
A sexy French maid uniform, a naughty Santa’s helper costume and edible undies ... oh my!
Sure, there were battle strategies, espionage, gunfire and all the usual stuff that comes with war games. Bottom line: Joan kicked Evan’s butt in this military exercise, and boy, did he have it coming! We knew one day he would get his, and we knew Joan would be the one to lower the boom. But let’s move on to more important things, like the sexy-products sale going on at Pamela’s house ... That’s what happened when Pamela encouraged one of the other Army wives to find a way to make money working from home. Who knew she’d end up selling for Aphrodite Unlimited, a company to help wives serve up a “dessert to make their tired husbands beg for seconds”?
Secret confession time: Which of these items from the episode would you buy? Time to vote!
And what about that steamy last scene with Roland? Any guess on what Roland was wearing? Let’s hear it ... have at it. We’ll feature the most original answer in our next "Army Wives" newsletter.
Wendy Davis Gets Into Playing Pregnant on "Army Wives"
myLifetime member kimby03 thinks that Joan will remain at Fort Marshall and will not deploy, getting some more time to spend with her new baby girl, Sarah Elizabeth.
Do you agree? Sound off and share your own opinions of what's to come when Season 3 of "Army Wives" returns in June here.
Watch this clip from the latest "Army Wives Confidential" where actress Wendy Davis (Joan Burton) shares some on-set silliness and the lengths she'll go to prove she's committed to playing pregnant by digging into donuts.
Select a Season 2 Finale Favorite Scene
Time is winding down to vote for your favorite Season 2 moment from "Army Wives," so what better way to keep it going than adding a new video into the mix?
One of my favorite moments happens to be from the Season 2 finale episode, when Claudia Joy informs the Wives and Roland (with little Sarah Elizabeth in tow) that the Holdens are departing Fort Marshall. It's such a pivotal moment for the whole clan, and can really change everything for each and every one of them.
If you could add another favorite moment to our "Army Wives" vote from the finale, which scene would you pick? Let us know.
We'll be revealing the final winner of our Season 2 favorite moment poll on Friday, so stay tuned!
Ep. 12 Preview: Joan's Baby Shower & Pamela's...Stalker?
Whew! All-new episodes of "Army Wives" return on Sunday, September 7 at 10 pm/et pt. For those of you that have been in Fort Marshall withdrawal just like me, here's a dose of what's to come this Sunday.
This week, the Wives plan for Joan’s baby shower and Pamela’s secret admirer gets a bit too close for comfort.
Catch a glimpse of this episode now:
Is Pamela really in danger or is this just a big fuss over nothing? And what's up with Denise? Is her marriage beyond help? And, OK, is it just me, or can you see Joan really getting into all the girly moments of a baby shower or what? Hopefully all my burning questions will be answered in Episode 12, airing this Sunday. Don't miss it!
