Presidential Hopefuls Barack Obama and John McCain Agree on “Army Wives”

Presidential nominees Senators Barack Obama and John McCain taped on-air and online spots, honoring the service and sacrifice of America’s military families in support of the premiere of “Army Wives” on Sunday, June 8th.

Of course, I’m here with the insider scoop for you on how this exclusive video came to be: Lifetime approached the McCain, Obama, and Clinton campaigns to see if they’d like to be part of our effort to salute military families and “Army Wives”.

John McCain taped his spot at his headquarters in Virginia (located just outside of Washington, DC) on May 15th, and Barack Obama was filmed in Denver, CO on a campaign stop on May 27th. Hillary Clinton’s campaign was also very interested in contributing, but scheduling conflicts ultimately prevented her from participating by the deadline. They read the scripts a few times over for different shots and took about 15 minutes to tape each spot.

I’m told both Senators were very gracious with their time and talents, and several of the candidates' staffers admitted to being big fans of the show. (Who isn’t!)

“Entertainment Tonight” (CBS) and “The Situation Room” (CNN) previewed clips from their special video messages, which are available to watch online here at myLifetime.com, or during the "Army Wives" premiere, Sunday, June 8 at 10 pm et/pt.
