Richard "Richy" Jackson

World-class creative director and choreographer, Richard "Richy" Jackson returns as judge on Season Two of Abby’s Ultimate Dance Competition. Having spent the breadth of his 15 year career working alongside the most influential recording artists in the music industry, Jackson's experience and accomplishments stand unrivaled.


Originally from the San Francisco Bay Area, Jackson came to Hollywood in 1999 and began his career dancing professionally in music videos, live performances and commercials. Jackson then began doing choreography for artists including, Katy Perry, Keri Hilson, Nicki Minaj, Sean "Puffy" Combs, Brandy and Lady Gaga. Jackson’s expertise includes diverse dance styles such as jazz-funk, hip-hop, and modern contemporary. Impressively, he has achieved success with raw, innate talent, never having been formally trained as a dancer.


In addition to being one of the most sought-after choreographers in the business, Jackson has put his directional creativity on performances for some of the most recognized shows on television, including "Saturday Night Live," "The Today Show," "Good Morning America," "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno," "The Late Show with David Letterman," the Grammy Awards, the MTV Awards, American Music Awards, the Billboard Awards, the BET Awards, among countless others. Jackson is also an established television personality, appearing on-camera during multiple seasons of the popular MTV franchise "Making the Band." In 2011, Jackson was featured as a series regular in two hit shows, E!’s "The Dance Scene" and BET’s "Born to Dance."


Most notably, Jackson is an integral member of the creative team for international superstar recording artist Lady Gaga serving as Visual Director/Choreographer and member of the artist’s Haus of Gaga. He has been choreographing for the entirety of her storied career, having created iconic movement in every single piece of her entire catalogue of commercially released music videos, live performances and television appearances.


Currently, Jackson continues to create inspired artistic interpretations for clients both established and yet proven, working with artists on major labels, as well as those released independently including Krewella, Karmin, and Priyanka Chopra.
