  • Hello to all....i just seen the Memory Keeper's Daughter on Itunes for $3.99 ...all you have to do is download ITunes if you don't have it and then click on "movies" then when you find the Memory Keeper's Daughter just click on "buy" and the download takes about 25 min. Then you can watch it as many times as you want. It is a Very good movie and i also read the book before i watched it...it is alittle different than the movie but well worth watching! Before i lknew it was on itunes i was bidding on EBay up to $80 and then there was a higher bidder which so glad i didn't have to pay that much! Good movie like i said but i defiantly would be disappointed if i payed $80!

  • First, Happy Mother's Day to all the Moms out there!!
And To the Mom of Olivia and Emily...there are special needs preschool programs which have some "model" preschoolers in the same class. It depends on the school district whether it is available. And then it also depends on if you want them in the same class. Will your girls benefit most from staying in the class together?, or will one talk for the other?, thus creating a way to be in the class without having to talk? These are ?s only you can answer. But check your local school district about whether they have a special needs preschool program where general education children can go as well. I know of a family who has a son with auditory learning disabilities and the younger daughter was in the same preschool class. The mom was very happy with the program. Hope this is helpful...Happy Mother's Day!!

  • Hello, To the mommy of Olivia and Emily. I am a very proud mommy of a (9-year old girl) with down syndrome. She had open heart surgery at 2-1/2months, I was told she would never walk (she did at age 2 and 3 months, talk, she did at 15 months and has not stopped (lol) I took pictures of things, her cup, socks, shoes and food, milk, and taped them everywhere she would point and try to tell me what she wanted that's how she learned to talk, read, she did in 2nd grade, she is in special needs classes, but she is also in reg classes, music, gym, lunch, library, reading, lab works on computers.(She is at a 1st grade level but she is doing wonderful!!! Give your little girl every chance you can and get the help you can for her, don't let anyone tell you she won't be able to do this or that, it might take her a lot longer but she will get there. Work with her every chance you get. My little girl is now in the 4th grade, We are very blessed with wonderful teachers and the kids with her are fantastic. She is the only down syndrome child in the school and everyone loves her. If it means giving her a chance to learn sooner than her sister and away from her for a while during the day that's ok. Emily is going to need all the love, help and support she can get. There is a lot of information out there now on down syndrome and the different levels of the disability. Support groups are wonderful, and don't be afraid to ask because you are going to have a very strong back bone to fight for your daughter and her needs. You sound like a wonderful and loving mommy asking for advice all ready. Hope this helps a little.(Down Syndrome Awareness-Love Can't See The Difference)

  • I have 6 month old twin girls, Olivia and Emily. Emily was born with Down syndrome. Is there anyone out there that has been in the same situation and can offer advice? I want them both to succeed, but I also do not want to ever separate them. I was told Emily is able to attend a preschool program for "special" children when she is 3, and obviously Olivia can not. Which would be more beneficial? Keeping them together to learn and grow together, or give Emily the chance to overcome obsticles at an early age?

I missed the first airing of this program and am very glad to see it will be airing again in June. I couldn't imagine giving up my Emmy. She is such a blessing.

  • I loved the book and will try to see the second airing. I hope it is enjoyable but after reading some comments I fear it may not mirror the way I interpreted the book. Well let's see.
