When is Girl Positive coming back on tv?
I love the movie. It was awsome. It was was very educational in every way possible. It had all the facts. And most of all, the movie had all of the emotions that comes with HIV. The movie should be played at all High Schools and Jr. Schools. People need to know the facts about HIV. And people need to know that its managable now. Actualy, It's no worse than Herbies.
This movie was so good! I loved everyone in it, especially Jennie Garth. Everyone except for "Jason". His acting was so terrible! The movie was amazing and well-written, but I could only picture him as Brink. But it was wicked good overall!
Overall, I thought the movie was good at getting the basic "use protection/get tested" message across. For once though, I would like to see a film about HIV that does more to explore the lives of those who are living/surviving with the disease. I think there was an attempt at this through the teacher/vice principal storyline but they, in my opinion, fell short of this goal. The fact is, many people are living (not dying) with HIV. They have careers, friends, and social lives. They travel, participate in their communities, nurture their home lives and , yes, they still like to date and pursue romantic/domestic partnerships. An HIV+ person can, like those living with other life-threatening diseases like diabetes, manage his/her health through medication, diet, exercise and a positive attitude. They are not, despite how this movie portrayed it, destined to lives of consuming an exorbitant amount of meds, barfing up food or passing out on a daily basis. It is time we expand upon our "be safe" public service announcements to raise awareness of a community of people who want to live respectfully and safely with their neighbors but wish to no longer feel isolated or feared. We need to move beyond the 80's death message and change the script to also address issues related to those who are HIV survivors......dating, when to tell, living safely with a partner, etc. Ignorance of this disease is much larger than the safe-sex discourse we have been having for the last 25 years.
This was a really good movie up until the end, the cliffhanger as to weather or not Greg and Lindsay had it also took a few kudos off the movie for me. I hate those "draw your own" conclusion movies.
In reply to ktobin.......YES......are the people who wrote this movie completely stupid???? People who take blood should wear gloves, to protect both the patient and the caregiver. That is SO BASIC. How can you use a movie like this to promote HIV awareness and overlook something so simple????
i love this movie it is really eye opening
not saying i have any thing just that i think is a real good movie
this was like tellin us that just because we like a dude, and havein sex with him could be a bad thing but just like rachel we might end up havin HIV i know if i ever have HIV i would hate bein me but i loved this movie and if yall want to have sex then make sure that u use a condom and make sure that the partner dont have and std
I think this was an excellent movie and I think that all teenage and preteens should see it.. I have two teenage girls that I want to see it..
i LOVED this movie its great! ;)
the bomb!!!
Is there a tv show now?
this is like probably one of my absolute favorite movies ever! it is like totally amazing! like me and my "friend" always used to call eachother whenever we found out it was gonna be on or like was on! then like even after she hated me cuz my step mom told on her for "smoking chocolate chip cookies" i lik ecalled her to tell her it was on like and we hadnt talked to eachother in like 3 months, and when i called her to tell herit made things a littl ebetter and she like stoped like compleatly hating me!! well... but then she just went and made up a bunch of lies about me and stuff... but it fixed stuff for a while... but yeahh... i really love this movie ad like want it on dvd... or vhs... ether one... lol i kinda want to make my teacher let us watch it in class cuz she keeps tellin us stuff about not to have sex and stuff... which is pretty halairius, cuz were all freshmen, and only like half the class still has their verginity... im in the half that still has their vcard by the wayy... cuz i dont wanna get aids!!
but yeahh... good movie, and someone should tell me how to get it on video! haha
this movie is a great example that u should not sleep with the person that u love. u just dont know there back ground thats crazy mor ethan seven years she dont know that she ahd hiv. then she had to tell her boyfriend to get check out because he miht have it but...........
I would love to have my daughters and her friends over to watch this movie for a girls night but cannot find out when it airs again. I would actually love to get it on DVD if possible. If anyone can help that would be greatly appreciated
wow.I think that before these teens out here start having sex they need to get tested. And when my daughters are at that age and ready to have sex and stuff we are going to watch this movie again because right now their too young to understand wwhats going on.You'd never even imagine that the guy you were sleeping with had AIDS or HIV.This really made me and my husband get tested. It came back negative for the both of us.
This movie really pushed me to get tested! Even if you think the person you are sleeping with is clean, you should really consider who else they have slept with, and then who all of those people have slept with, and so on and what not. If you don't stay in a monogamous relationship, I URGE you to get tested! I received my results today and everything was negative, but it was still a real eye-opener. I'm definitely going to take way more precautions because I consider myself lucky at this point. Also, someone mentioned earlier that they always use protection, but condoms are only 88% affective against HIV. Kudos to you for always using them, but they're not 100% effecient.
I watched this movie last night, and enjoyed it. However, I have to agree with ktobin. I wonder about the mixed message the movie sends by having HIV/Aids as it's main theme, but showing several scenes of medical personnel drawing blood without even the barest minimum precaution of gloving. Kind of shoots the 'prevention' message in it's foot, doesn't it? 'Universal precautions' are just that. Universal. Means it always happens. I have to wonder how this slipped by everyone, from the actors through the producers.

I loved watching this movie, my best friend was raped and the guy who did it was an avid drug user. He did pretty much anything he could get his hands on. Anyways, we started watching this movie together and afterwards we talked about her getting tested. the rape was her losing her virginity to a scumbag and hasnt been with any other guy before and now making her afraid for life. She was tested for everything from HIV to STDs and so on. She was also tested for pregnancy and that test came back positive. Sadly after 2 months she lost the baby because of all the drugs the guy did. All the disease tests were negative but we were still concerned on whether that the negative results were just because the attack had happened and it has been 7 months since the attack. So after that we talked to her mom about getting retested for everything just to be on the safe side and she has an appointment tomorrow! I am so proud of her decisions, her life has changed because of this happening but i know that her life was changed for the better!
