Grammy Award-winning singer, songwriter and rapper Queen Latifah has become an icon for her generation. Her work in music has expanded to film and television, where she was awarded the Golden Globe for Best Actress in a miniseries and two Screen Actors Guild Awards, an Emmy nomination and an Academy Award nomination.

An empowering role model, she became a dedicated advocate of Lifetime's Every Woman Counts campaign. She was a lead spokeswoman for the "If I Were President ... " dialogues, encouraging women to get involved in the political process and vote in the 2008 presidential elections.

Queen Latifah continues to be involved in the community and supports Citymeals On Wheels, which raises private funds to ensure no homebound, elderly New Yorker will ever go a day without food or human companionship. She also helped design and then signed a pair of shoes for the Stuart Weitzman charity auction benefiting ovarian cancer awareness and research.

Recently, Queen Latifah wrote a life coaching book that will be published by Grand Central, in which she shares personal tips for happiness and empowerment. This will be her second book; she released her memoir, "Ladies First: Revelations of a Strong Woman" in 1999.
