Week of June 5th: Amy Palmer
Amy Palmer Position: CEO of Operation Homefront Hometown: Schertz, Texas Military experience: Air Force veteran Family: Husband and two kids, Cary and Mackenzie
Amy Palmer serves as the Chief Operating Officer of Operation Homefront. She is responsible for the overall operation of Operation Homefront chapters nationwide. She assumed her present position in August 2004.
Prior to joining Operation Homefront, Amy was the Executive Director and founder of the Armed Forces Foundation. Amy operated five Armed Forces Foundation chapters in five states. Upon joining Operation Homefront, Amy's organization was acquired by Operation Homefront, thus expanding Operation Homefront's operations from a San Diego nonprofit organization to a national nonprofit organization.
Amy Palmer is an Air Force veteran, medically separated from the Air Force. She was serving in the personnel career field at Altus Air Force Base, Oklahoma, at the time of her separation in March 1996. After her separation, she immediately returned to her prior military position as an Air Force civil service employee, where she remained until her husband's military assignment transfer to Kirtland Air Force Base, New Mexico.
Amy is the recipient of numerous military awards including Employee of the Year in 1991 and 1992. While on active duty, she earned the Air Force Achievement Medal, the Air Force Commendation Medal, National Defense Service Medal and the Air Force Good Conduct Medal. She also was Civilian of the Quarter for two quarters in 1997.
Amy and her husband reside in Schertz, Texas, where her husband is currently stationed at Randolph Air Force Base. The Palmers have two children, Cary and Mackenzie.
