Lynne Holden, M.D. is the president of Mentoring in Medicine and an associate clinical professor of emergency medicine at the Einstein College of Medicine in the Bronx, New York. She was a co-chairperson on the Admissions Committee for 10 years. She was the associate residency director of the Jacobi-Montefiore Emergency Medicine Residency Program for six years.

A native of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Dr. Holden attended Howard University for undergraduate studies and Temple University School of Medicine. She completed her emergency medicine residency at Jacobi Medical Center, serving as chief resident during the last year. A board-certified emergency medicine physician, she has practiced emergency medicine at Montefiore Medical Center in the Bronx, NY, for nearly 14 years. She is married with a 12-year-old daughter.

In March 2006, Dr. Holden co-founded the national nonprofit Mentoring in Medicine, Inc. with two physician colleagues and an educator who have been mentoring students collectively for over 40 years. The mission is to increase the diversity of the healthcare workforce. Mentoring in Medicine is a dedicated to academic enrichment, leadership development and mentoring socio-economically disadvantaged students interested in pursuing a healthcare profession.

Mentoring in Medicine has created interventions for students from third grade through graduation from health professional school. Mentoring in Medicine programs have served nearly 6,200 students, and over 500 health professionals have been recruited. Mentoring in Medicine operates in New York City and Oakland, California. Their programs have been featured in the New York Times, the New York Daily News, Amsterdam News, the Oakland Globe, JET Magazine, Essence Magazine and the New Physician.

Dr. Holden has received the Albert Einstein College of Medicine Leo Davidoff Society Teaching Award and the Universal Sisters' Commitment to Women's Health Award. She has been granted the In the Know: Community Service Leadership Award from ProstateNet, the Education Through Empowerment Award from Maybelline-NY and Essence magazine, the Outstanding Contribution to Health Professional Education Award from NAMME-Northeast and the Society of Emergency Medicine 2008 Diversity Interest Group's first Visionary Educator Award. In 2009, Dr. Holden has been given the Woman of the Year Award by the National Council of Negro Women, North Bronx Section, the Gloria Bynoe Thomas Award by the City College Minority Association of Pre-Health Students and the Rev. Cannon Stewart Community Service Award by the Harlem Congregations for Community Improvement, Inc. More recently, she was named a prestigious 2009 Community Health Leader by The Robert Wood Johnson Foundation.
