Lifetime at the Conventions

Lifetime rolled out the red (and blue) carpet for late-night celebrations at both of the political conventions. These events brought together Hollywood and Washington to celebrate women who currently hold office and those who aspire to join their ranks, as part of the Your Life. Your Time. Your Vote campaign.

The Republican National Convention party in Tampa was hosted by Meghan McCain and included a live music performance by country sensation Sara Evans. Eva Longoria joined Lifetime in Charlotte at the Democratic National Convention party, which culminated with a performance by Grammy-nominated Flo Rida.

Both events were co-hosted by Variety and presented in partnership with Got Your 6, a campaign supporting U.S. military veterans.

Army Wives Films 100th Episode and is Honored at the GI Film Fest

Lifetime's hit series Army Wives received the "GI Family Award" at the 2012 GI Film Festival in Washington, D.C., coinciding with the momentous filming of the 100th episode of the show.

Actors Sally Pressman and Brian McNamara attended and accepted the award on behalf of the entire cast and crew.

Urge Congress to Support Pancreatic Cancer Research

On June 26, join thousands of Pancreatic Cancer Action Network supporters to urge Congress to pass the Pancreatic Cancer Research & Education Act.

The fourth leading cause of cancer death in the United States, there is currently no cure.

Passing The Pancreatic Cancer Research & Education Act will ensure the National Cancer Institute develops a long-term comprehensive strategic plan for developing early diagnostics and treatment options that will increase the survival rate for patients.

"Be Prepared, Not Scared" on National Missing Children's Day

May 25th marks National Missing Children’s Day, placing special attention on more than 800,000 children who go missing each year. According to FBI research, a child goes missing every 40 seconds.

"Be prepared, not scared" is the motto for the National Child Identification Program, encouraging parents to purchase special, inkless Child ID kits which provide a clean, convenient way to record fingerprints on a card they can be kept at home for easy access in case of an emergency.

In partnership with the FBI, over 30 million ID Kits have been distributed through The National Child Identification Program, created by the American Football Coaches Association as a community service initiative designed to help protect youth and change the statistics related to missing children.

This month in honor of National Missing Children’s Day, 10,000 free kits will be donated to the Black and Missing Foundation, along with a percentage of the proceeds.

"Got Your 6" Launches for Veterans

Lifetime is a proud partner of the "Got Your 6" campaign, an initiative that focuses on creating opportunities for veterans and military families.

Working to convert their leadership operational training into positive civilian roles in communities nationwide, the campaign will combine the reach and resources of the top entertainment studios, networks, guilds and agencies with the expertise and commitment of more than two dozen non-profit organizations.

Chris Marvin, a former Army Blackhawk helicopter pilot and the Managing Director of "Got Your 6" said, “Over the next five years, more than one million service members will return to civilian life. As we welcome this generation of veterans home, it is crucial that we view them and their families not as burdens, but as leaders and civic assets.”

Many Veterans may not show any signs of intent to harm themselves before doing so, but some actions can be a sign that a Veteran needs help. Learn how to recognize the signs.
