Lifetime's John Walsh Exposes Modern-Day Slavery

by Nbyrne Fri., Feb. 24, 2012 ,2:36 pm EST

On Friday, February 24, at 9 pm don't miss the two-hour special edition of "America's Most Wanted" highlighting the global problem of sex trafficking, which affects millions of women and children.

While commonly thought of as a problem limited to countries in Europe, Latin America and Asia, human trafficking is also a major problem in America, where incidences of sex and labor trafficking have been reported in all 50 states, according to The National Human Trafficking Resource Center hotline operated by Polaris Project.

“Of all the people wanted for the most heinous crimes you could ever imagine, those involved in sex trafficking are some of the worst kinds of individuals ever to exist,” said John Walsh. “They need to be stopped immediately and with the help of our Lifetime viewers, we’re going to put some of these sorry excuses for human beings away for a long time.”

Get the facts on how you can help fight sex trafficking at The Polaris Project or call the National Human Trafficking Resource Center's toll free hotline, 1-888-3737-888.

Lifetime and America’s Most Wanted have led to the capture of seven people wanted for such crimes as murder and sexual abuse of a minor. Four of these captures occurred over a five day span during the week of January 23rd. Read about the captures here.

Footage from the most recent capture of Jeanifer Segrest will also be featured in this special; she was arrested after a Lifetime viewer called the show’s hotline with information on her location.
