Congratulating Peace Through Business Graduates From Rwanda and Afghanistan

Lifetime Television was a proud sponsor of the 2011 International Women’s Economic Summit in Washington DC, a two-day conference at Georgetown University where world leaders spoke to women entrepreneurs from Afghanistan and Rwanda as part of their Peace Through Business training program.

The Institute for Economic Empowerment of Women's Peace Through Business program provides a long-term business education to female applicants from Rwanda and Afghanistan which includes a formal mentorship program with an American business owner.

Honorable Melanne Verveer, U.S. Ambassador, Global Women's Affairs, was the keynote speaker at the summit. She said, "We Americans are committed to supporting you. You are the ones serving on the front line. This isn't glamorous or glorious...we are all in this together." Former First Lady Laura Bush also spoke to the graduates through a previously recorded video message, "Your dedication to build a better future for your people is inspirational to all of us in the United States as advocates and as women," said Bush
