I have not seen ALL of Miracle Run, but what I have watched, I have seen several times. I never seem to catch it from the very beginning, and by the time I do get to see it, the boys have already been diagnosed and are already teenagers. I would love to see it in its entirety, and also show it to my mother-in-law, who does not understand or even realize autism exists. She thinks Sunday School is the cure all, and if we would just take our son to church he would be perfect. But she is in denial about a lot of things in life. Meanwhile she misses out on spending time with her ONLY grandson because until se recognizes there is an issue, I refuse to allwo her unlimited access to him because she is an idiot. I miss MY mom so much. SOrry for the rant...I just have no tolerance for ignorance. Autism is REAL!
I saw the movie every time it aired from 2004 - 05 on the LifeTime channel. I worked at a school and the school secretary told a parent to take her autistic daughter to a private institution. I told the mother about Miracle Run: the movie and a few years later saw the mother and happy child. Her mom said that she told the school they HAVE to teach her girl (info from the movie), so they complied! Plus, Aiden Quinn, Mary Loise Parker and Zac Efron are in the movie! Corrine's experiences and fortitude and fidelity to her children contradict todays culture of get rid of high maintenance children. All parents want to be succesesful and for parents of autistic kids it's takes all available resources. Corrine has the cooperation of her husband. Together they prevail. Unlike you and me, they will not get to retire from supervising their kids. My whole family agrees that the theme of this movie is heroic love.
