Lifetime: Why were you drawn to this role?

Chalke: It was because of Geralyn and the way she told her story. Her book is like nothing else ever written on the subject - it's irreverent, gutsy, honest, and she has you laughing and crying in the same time. I love the unique and brave choices she made during her journey. Since I lost my aunt and my grandmother to cancer because both weren't diagnosed early enough, I wanted to be a part of Lifetime's powerful breast cancer awareness campaign.

Lucas: When I heard that the movie was officially set to be made, I was in the hospital after having my son Hayden. I was taking some great painkillers, so I thought maybe I was hallucinating! And then when I heard that Sarah was cast, I knew that the movie was going to be very special, because she is an actress that many young women - and men - are drawn to. I felt so lucky!

Lifetime: What were your first impressions of each other?

Chalke: I first met Geralyn over the phone, and she was so inspiring and funny - we could have talked for hours. The first morning of filming, a package arrived from Geralyn. It was a heart necklace that she also wears to remind herself of the importance of following her heart and of her courage. I wore it throughout the movie.

Lucas: OK, I admit it - I Googled Sarah before we talked! It was sort of like we were being set up on a blind date, and I wanted to learn more about her. In every picture, I loved her smile, and she seemed so special. On the phone, I admitted I'd made a list of things I could talk to her about, and she laughed and said, "Oh, TOCs" [topics of conversation] - turns out she makes those lists, too!

Lifetime: How are you two alike and different?

Chalke: We both talk way too fast! I swear we can cover two hours of material in a 10-minute conversation!

Lucas: Yes, we definitely talk too fast, and we're a bit spastic. We also both love to laugh and are really silly. Oh, and we're both always hungry!

Chalke: We are different in how Geralyn is one of those rare people who recognizes the importance of living every moment of life. And that's something that we all strive to do.

Lucas: Thanks, but I think you left out a few other differences - like you're a blonde with long, killer legs and great boobs!

Lifetime: Was it weird playing someone real, who came to the set?

Chalke: I definitely felt a responsibility to Geralyn to get every detail right. I had such a short time to prepare for such an intense role, but I felt like I had the Cliffs Notes with Geralyn's book. I read and reread sections right before we filmed them. It was like having a cheat sheet of exactly what was going on in her mind during every part of the experience.

Lucas: I felt so lucky to watch Sarah on set. Watching her get made up for the chemo scene in her trailer made me feel such appreciation for what she was putting herself through for the role, because I knew that she had lost her aunt and grandmother to cancer.

Lifetime: What was the funniest moment on the set?

Lucas: It was when my mom, who was with me, started flirting with my fake husband, Jay Harrington [who plays Lucas' husband in the movie]! Jay is so adorable, but I was so mortified. She just kept saying "You remind me so much of my son-in-law" and batting her eyes...ugh!

Lifetime: What was the most challenging thing about watching this movie come to life?

Lucas: It was the idea that it is OK to laugh about cancer and still be very sensitive to what a horrible and dark experience it is. There is just the thinnest line between comedy and tragedy, and most people can't walk it. It is definitely a tightrope, and Sarah danced on it!
