Kathy Najimy

Kathy Najimy is proud to have been voted Ms. Magazine’s Woman of the Year 2005. She just completed filming “My Mother’s Curse,” with Barbra Streisand and Seth Rogen, and is currently starring in the mystery movie “Deck the Halls,” on TNT.

Najimy is known internationally for her portrayal of Sister Mary Patrick in the blockbuster hits “Sister Act 1” and “Sister Act 2.” She was also heard in Pixar’s Oscar-winning hit “Wall-E” and Disney’s “Tinkerbell.” Najimy’s film credits also include “Hocus Pocus,” “Rat Race,” “Hope Floats,” ‘Nevada, ” “Cats Don’t Dance,” “Zack and Reba,” “This Is My Life,” “The Fisher King,” “Say Uncle,” “Soapdish,” “The Hard Way” and “Step Up 3D,” with cameo appearances in “It’s Pat,” “The Wedding Planner,” “Jeffrey” and “Margaret Cho’s: Bam Bam and Celeste.”

For 14 seasons Najimy provided the voice of Peggy Hill on the Emmy Award–winning animated Fox series “King of the Hill.” She also starred as Olive opposite Kirstie Alley on the NBC comedy “Veronica’s Closet” and as Millie Finch on the CBS drama “Numb3rs.” Most recently, she was seen in Lifetime’s “Drop Dead Diva” and as a recurring character on “Make It or Break It,” as well as in “Franklin & Bash,” “Desperate Housewives,” “Ugly Betty” and “Mr. Sunshine.” Najimy’s other television credits include “Chicago Hope,” “The Scream Team,” “Cinderelmo,” “In Search of Dr. Seuss,” “Two Sisters,” “Fool for Love,” “Early Edition,” “Clueless,” “That’s So Raven” and several episodes of “Ellen.”

Najimy starred on Broadway and was critically acclaimed for her portrayal of Mae West in “Dirty Blonde” and also appeared in the first productions of “V DAY” (“The Vagina Monologues”). Her original off-Broadway hit plays and HBO specials — “The Kathy and Mo Show: Parallel Lives” and “The Dark Side” — garnered her both Obie and Cable Ace Awards. Najimy directed and created the off-Broadway musical “Back to Bacharach and David,” and has directed several one-woman shows.

Najimy is a dedicated activist, supporting numerous causes, including AIDS activism, LGBT groups, animal rights and various humanitarian organizations. She currently lives in New York with her husband of 16 years, actor/singer Dan Finnerty (the Dan Band), their 14-year-old daughter Samia and their two dogs.
