Character: Bonnie Parker
Holliday Grainger plays Lucrezia Borgia alongside Jeremy Irons in “The Borgias” and recently appeared with Helena Bonham Carter and Ralph Fiennes in Mike Newell’s adaptation of “Great Expectations” in the pivotal role of Estella. She was also seen opposite Jude Law, Keira Knightley and Aaron Johnson in “Anna Karenina” and with Robert Pattinson in the film drama “Bel Ami.”
Grainger first garnered attention when she took on the role of Emily in “The Scouting Book for Boys,” followed by her role as Mollie in Pat Holden’s feature “Away Days.” Last year, she appeared with Dame Judi Dench, Jamie Bell, Mia Wasikowska and Michael Fassbender in Moira Buffini’s adaptation of “Jane Eyre.”
Grainger’s extensive television portfolio includes starring roles in the BBC drama “Five Daughters,” the crime drama “Above Suspicion,” BBC Three’s “Stanley Park,” and numerous other BBC and ITV presentations: “Demons,” “Merlin,” “Robin Hood,” “Blue Murder,” “Waking the Dead,” and “Waterloo Road,” and “The Bad Mother’s Handbook,” to name a few. Stage credits include Athol Fugard’s 1975 “Dimetos.”
Grainger is currently in pre-production on Kenneth Branagh’s adaptation of “Cinderella” as one of the mean stepsisters. The film also stars Lily James, Cate Blanchett and Richard Madden. Additionally, she has just finished Lone Scherfig’s new film “Posh,” based on the London stage play of the same name, alongside Max Irons, Douglas Booth, Sam Claflin and Jessica Brown Findlay. The film follows students at Oxford University as they join the infamous Riot Club.
Bonnie Parker always had dreams bigger than being a small town waitress and wasting away without anyone ever knowing who she was. The aspiring actress, singer and poet pledged herself to a life of crime after falling in love with Clyde Barrow and helping him break out of prison. As the couple graduated from petty crimes to killing sprees, Bonnie languished in the media attention they received and pushed Clyde to pull bigger jobs for bigger headlines, and helped create the legend of the couple that continues to live on today.
