In 1989, San Diego socialite Betty Broderick's (Meredith Baxter) life becomes unraveled when her lawyer husband (Steven Collins) of sixteen years divorces her and marries his young assistant (Michelle Johnson). Feelings of anger, abandonment and vindictiveness drive Betty to murder them in their bed.
