Rent a Womb

Why have stretch marks and morning sickness, especially if you can afford to pay another woman to carry your baby for you? According to the New York Post, this is what an increasing number of rich New York women are doing. At least two socialites have recently admitted they are using or looking for "gestational carriers." The article seems to imply that although the women are perfectly capable of carrying a fetus to term, they just don't want to. Do you think there's anything wrong with what these women are doing? If you had enough money, might you do the same? Or would you still carry your own baby?

Has this world become so vain that women don't even want to carry a child anymore. I haven't had kids yet, and I'm a little shinny thing, but I wouldn't give a care if it got fat from MY CHILD! What would that do to the kid when they found out?

I think this so outrageous that a real woman would be so vain first, and most of important carrying your own child is so very special and intimate as a woman would know. These women need their minds checked into a pscy institute for a while and learn what real motherhood is all about. Having a baby should be a really special moment for any woman that is in a position to have a baby. It's normal, this other is abnormal to me. My daughter is the most special part of my life and I would never change a thing about it, ever. My daughter is 37 yrs. young now and I love her so very much!!!! She is the light of my life more than she even knows.

okay surrogacy is something that is a good thing if it is impossible for you to carry your own child, but just to have a surrogate to get out of the unpleasantries seems a bit cowardly...women who are willing to give couples the chance to have a child of thier own who have waited so desperately for show be revered not rented to the highest bidder.

well I would never pay someone else to carry my baby I already had my own anyway lol. But I have been thinking about being a surrogate mother for women that can't carry themselves but I just don't know how I would approach this! What u have to go to a certain place to sign up to be one I am in perfect health I have a child and I want to bring that joy to others

As young as I am, I think I would want to carry my own child. I would want the child to take after me, and I wouldn't want to have to explain "the other mommy."

I don't know why people are judging these women. I would actually consider it. I am currently pregnant with my 2nd and it is wonderful to feel the baby moving inside, but I do spend every waking minute wishing someone else could be doing this for me. I do not enjoy being pregnant and just because I don't enjoy being pregnant doesn't mean that I am not a good mother. Everybody is different and therefor deserves to live their lives the way they choose. If they don't want to be pregnant and can afford to have someone else go through it for them, go right ahead. For me I'd be more worried about trusting the surrogate to do the right things while pregnant. Are they secretly smoking or drinking? Are they eating right?
Does that mean that the people who adopt, because they don't want to have kids of their own, are wrong? Let's break it down here, because they could be motivated by the same things as the women who hire a surrogate.
It's unfair to say that someone who wants to do things differently than everyone else is wrong and won't be a good parent.

I think that these women are just being selfish and they need to be thankful that they can carry baby's.Also if these women have so much money why don't they just have them a little surgery after they have the baby if there so worried about stretch marks and gaining weight. They just seem so stuck up to me.

i for one would absolutely love to be a surrogate mom but to a woman that cant have kids..i absolutely loved being pregnant and ive always wanted kids but i didnt know how special that was until i became a mom myself and i want to help someone out who wants to experience that as well. but to become a surrogate to someone that doesnt want stretch marks i would have a problem with...babies get dirty, they get sick, and throw up and then there is their dirty diapers. a woman who doesnt want to get stretch marks but still wants a baby i would say there are tons of children out there that need a good home. go and adopt one of them. id still be a surrogate though =)
