Garlic
Health boost:Garlic's strong odor may not help you in the friend department, but the spice may help your heart. A naturally occurring chemical in garlic, called allicin, has been shown to decrease cholesterol and lower blood pressure. But allicin loses its power when cooked, so raw garlic is better for you — aim to have one to two cloves each day for maximum health benefits.
Flavor boost:
Make your own garlic dressing for salads and marinades by mixing 2 cloves of fresh minced garlic, 2 teaspoons of olive oil, 2 teaspoons of vinegar, 2 teaspoons of fresh lemon juice and 2 teaspoons of mustard.
