Hot Reads for Chilly Nights

By Michelle Buonfiglio Thu., Jan. 15, 2009 , 6:11 am EST

These hot romance books warm up a long winter’s night with steamy-to-super-sexy happily ever afters.  Treat yourself, or share them with a special friend!

A Few Good Men - Tori Carrington, aka Lori and Tony Karayiannia

Anytime you pair military heroes with erotic romance -- and start with a smokin' book lid like the one on the left -- you know you're in for some quality time spent reading in bed.

But the authors of this saweet little book of four short steamies, the first in the new Blaze Uniformly Hot series, put it best:

Four hot, combat-ready marines back home either for good or on leave struggle to adjust to life out of uniform (literally, when it comes to the four sexy heroines who steal their hearts). But if there's one thing they've proven, it's that marines don't give up easily. They'll keep coming - and coming and coming - until the job is done.

Seduced at Midnight -- Jacquie D'Alessandro
Gideon Mayne is the big, strapping, I-can-protect-you-from-anything-and-I-can-give-you-multiple-orgasms-while-I'm-doing-it detective-type guy who's investigating the "ghost robber-murderer" plaguing Lady Julianne Bradley's exclusive London neighborhood. Gideon and Julianne've had their eyes on each other for months, and now they can't keep their hands off - despite the fact that they're at opposite ends of the social spectrum and Julianne's engaged to a "suitable man." When Gideon's assigned to protect Julianne from the "ghost," the real question becomes clear: Who will protect each of them from breaking the other's heart?

Red Hot Valentine's Day - Jess Michaels, Lacy Danes, Megan Hart, Jackie Kessler
Four goddesses of erotic romance, four novellas of delicious, sensual fun. A practiced rake uses every trick in his considerable book to keep the woman he loves from marrying the wrong guy...A hot holiday "gift" from her lover makes the day special for the succubus looking for Valentine's Day fun...Lovers tease and titillate one another with erotic letters describing the Valentine's Day reunion they'll be having ...A well-bred widow makes the delicious choice between two men, caught between "a rock, and a very hard place."

Road to Seduction - Ann Christopher
Millionaire CEO Eric Warner can't believe his eyes when he sees the changes in Izzy, whose new curvaceous, sexy appearance has her looking more Isabella than the Izzy he's always loved as a best friend. And not with benefits. But an innocent road trip has Eric and Izzy pawing at each other like randy teens - and has Eric wondering whether his playa rep finally has caught up with him when Izzy doesn't take his strong feelings for her seriously. Stand alone sequel to "Tender Secrets," RBTB Year's Best Category Romance

Madame Bliss: The Erotic Adventures of a Lady - Charlotte Lovejoy
A frolicking, bawdy, sensual funfest, this playful novel in the style of Tom Jones and the like follows the erotic adventures of Miss Marianna Wren. From the loss (with abandon) of her innocence as a servant by the young master of the house - to becoming the most sought after courtesan in England -- Marianna's wide-eyed view of, and participation in, wanton carnal delights is enchanting, seductive, highly entertaining and, in the end, quite romantic.

Hot Mail - Janice Maynard
After crushing on her best pal Ethan for years, Jane decides to let the hot assistant chief of police know the score by sending him weekly anonymous naughty valentine poems until Valentine's Day. When her stationary store's vandalized, Ethan's on the scene prepared to save the day, unprepared when he starts seeing Jane as more swimsuit model than pizza buddy, yet totally prepped to give her what she says she needs -- in a big way. Oh, and there's such a hot n' sweet secondary love story, too!

Wild - Margo Maguire
Even unflappable Grace Hawthorne isn't immune to the savage, dangerous charms of Anthony Maddox who may or may not be the lost heir to a noble title. Of course, trying to civilize a gorgeous man wearing not much more than a loincloth into a proper nobleman would rile any fairly innocent, well-bred lady's companion like Grace. But when Grace's duty to transform Anthony becomes a scandalous yet pleasurable secret passion, both she and Anthony are torn between the duties being pressed upon them - and the unbridled desires that would lead them toward love.

Obsession: An Erotic Novel - Kayla Perrin
Sophia Gibson, the heroine of this complex and intense novel, is shocked to learn her husband Andrew's had a racy, yet unfulfilling affair. When he suggests she even the score, she chooses Peter, a moody, exotic artist who turns her on in ways Andrew never allowed himself to. Already conflicted, things turn unmanageable until Sophia makes bold choices to take charge of her life, love and sexuality.

What hot steamies would you add to the list?  Give us a little (spoiler-free) taste of the storyline and why it's hawt!

Tori Carrington is one of my faves! I highly recommend the Metropolis series. Wonderfully funny and a great read.
Ohhh, I just succumbed and bought Wicked Burn as I've heard so many good things about it! I have heard of a book called Mortal Temptations, which sounds intriguing...

WRT the weather - are you all talking degrees Fahrenheit rather than degrees Celsius please? And as for the weather here...I'm so sorry to say this but it is currently 18 degrees Celsius (it's 8 AM here); humidity = 70%. We're expecting a high of 23 degrees Celsius today *runs away very quickly*
I would definitely recommend "Wicked Burn" by Beth Kery. Definitely a HAWT read ;)

As for the weather, it finally stopped snowing but it's -10 degrees! Ick. I'm flying to D.C. this afternoon where it's a tropical 30 degrees. Can't wait.
Have a safe trip, Stace!!
Michelle! I am so honored to be on your "hot reads" list! It's supposed to be zero here tonight, the lowest temps in my neck of the woods since 1996! I'm jotting down all these titles for the next trip to the bookstore... I need all the warm up I can get!!

P.S. Hi! Jacquie!!
Oh heck it's only 7 degrees here, and that's a heat wave compared to you guys. I can't keep the dogs in because the squirrels are too stupid to stay in their nests.

It has gotten to the point where the only way I can link to the site (current blog that is) is through my facebook link. Weird.

I am going to hop over to eharlequin and see what's available from the list. I really like being able to buy the Blazes and other titles for the ereader rather than heading to the store and hoping that they have them. See what happens when I leave the store? No one cares about the section at all.
Thanks a million for the suggestions, Michelle. Are you piled under 15 inches of ice covered snow too??

{{WARM HUGS}}
D'Alessandro's does sound interesting. This is the 3rd, you say?? TGFA!! (thank goodness for Amazon)

I do miss my Bucks but after their horrendous bowl showing, they have some work to do. And I'm happy to give them the practice time. :eye roll:
I think Kirk gets better with age. =o)
Hi, Jules! We've got a bit of snow here. Stace could say better'n I whether this is a lot for the area. It's a bunch, though. I've got some nice tea.

Since you like series, you might like the D'Alessandro. I'm dyin for the next. I think it'll be the fourth in the Madness in Mayfair. Hey, are you goin through Buckeye withdrawal? I know Dave's having college football withdrawal. I just miss Kirk Herbstreit.
Buongiorno, Bellas! What a fun time yesterday with Gena Showalter and friends! Isn't she the most adorable thing? Well, somebody had to say it. Yeah, I know we're supposed to judge women only on talent, etc., but she is a cutie, as well as very nice.

Anywayz, I love me some hot reads in the winter! Nothing better than an afternoon with a cozy little book when it's cold and snowy outside. Here in Chicago area it's a bit cold today, so they've closed schools. I guess it's going to be around -6 or something. Child's play compared to Minnie, where I'm heading today to visit friends like amyskf and lizzeeS. Back there, the kids have outside recess as long as it's above zero. Yeah, you can imagine how our maouths hung open when we heard that one. :)

I'm wondering whether you guys in the warmer parts of the country still like a hot read in the winter? Probably just a hot read'll do ya any ol time, no?

Looking forward to tomorrow when Princess Mia and Meg Cabot visit. :)
I also suggest No Holding Back by Isabel Sharpe. I enjoy all of her Blaze books. You will too.
Thanks for the rec, maryt! Isabel's a legend. :)
