You know this feeling? You're about a ‘graph and a half into a book and you can barely breath for knowing the book rocks like hell, and it's gonna do the same till you put it down, bitter, because it's over, there's no more, and you wanted it to last a little - no - a whole flippin' lot longer.
Well, that's where I've been living lately, and these are the books that have done it to me:
"Trial by Fire," by Jo Davis. It's book 1 in the Firefighters of Station 5 series. Recently, I ran into a publicist from a house that doesn't publish this novel. She literally squeed out loud, "Oh, my God, Michelle! I found the best book; it's what romance is all about! And it's got...firefighers!" And I knew immediately she was talking "Trial by Fire..."

From Michelle: Charlotte Mede's new "Midnight Man" has the kind of hero we love: dark, hot, kinda dirty and - need I say it - fliipin' rich. Those things make him everything MM's
heroine needs to help her not get tossed into Bedlam by some slimy creeps after her fortune. It bears mentioning, ahem, that this Brava book is beautifully erotic. Please offer Charlotte Mede your warmest "There are other characters besides the hero?" Bella buongiorno...
From Charlotte: I have a confession to make. I love writing guys.
The light went on with the recent publication of my historical romance, "The Midnight Man." The cover is amazing, thanks to the artistry of Kensington's Kristine Mills-Noble and the insight of super editor, Kate Duffy. It's tough to look away from the darkly compelling gaze of Nicholas Ramsay, and there's a good reason why - because he's complex, enigmatic and dangerous. What's not to like?

Author: Deeanne Gist
Series: Sequel to "Courting Trouble"
Sub-genre: Historical/Texas, 1898
It's the worst – or the best – sort of embarrassment. You're quietly meditating amid a perfect storm of squirmy, sensual frissons. You shiver from the overwhelming, heart-bursting emotion brought on as you recall the exquisite way the hero and heroine of the romance you read last night joyfully consummated their avowal of love.
Then, you shake loose from your fantasy only to realize the rest of the congregation is up on their feet, praising the Lord and passing the collection plate...

From Michelle: Deeanne Gist's novels bowl me over. First, she writes well, and hits all the notes romance readers love. And second? She helps those folks who dig Jesus -- and also celebrate how romance reading makes their hearts and bodies feel -- understand that's a natural, good and Godly thing. What most impresses me is how Dee's books support women who feel they've made mistakes, yet still are worthy of God's blessings. Please offer Deeanne your warmest 'Speak on it, Bella!" buongiorno...
From Deeanne: Where have all the good ol' romances gone? Remember those fabulous Americana historicals by Pamela Morsi? The gripping novels of LaVyrle Spencer? The time when heroines fell in love first and then consummated the relationship with the hero? I know those books are still out there, but how do I find them? Seems even novels by authors I've trusted for years and years are ramping up the sex and tossing out the morality bar...

While many really cool things happened at the Romance Writers of America national conference, my hands-down favorite was the way folks kept coming up to me and saying, "Hey! Please tell the Bellas I say hi!" Or, "Oh, I LOVE the Bellas!"
It's so nice when someone gives your friends the thumbs-up, isn't it? Rather like they're saying you're pretty OK by association. ‘least that's how I take it, and there's really no need to point out how needy that sounds or, perhaps, in fact, is...

I got to hang with Bella Michelle and Bella Amy at the RWA National Conference in San Francisco. How cool is that!!!?? We shared drinks and greasy pizza and Amy was the Dancing Queen at the Harlequin party. Michelle was gorgeous and gracious and elegant as always, and it was my first time meeting Amy in person and she was...gorgeous and gracious and elegant. Hanging with these two is enough to give a girl a complex, LOL!
Okay, now that I've squeeed about how much fun we had together, I'll get down to the nitty-gritty of my guest blog. I could talk about me. I could talk about my trip. But I'm too excited about my latest book to talk about anything else. Today is the official release of "His Wicked Sins," a dark, twisted, sexy historical tale of madness, murder and suspense.
I thought you might like a little insight into the hero, Griffin Fairfax, so I asked him to tell me five things about himself that I could share with you. Here's what Griffin had to say...

Yeah. So, I'm pretty sure I'm not the only woman who's fantasized about being widowed and, after a tastefully discreet period of mourning, hooking up with some big, hot, sensitive-yet-alpha romance-hero-type guy who will be to her everything no real-life man possibly could hope or want to be.
Oh, never say I'm the only one!
If we didn't dig that fantasy, there wouldn't be nearly so many romances with "widow/er attains emotional justice" scenarios. Particularly well suited to historicals, these gems go a little something like this...

RBTB Bellos Selinger, Gleason Create Premiere U.S. Romance Scholarship Conference
You really deserve some credit in the scoopy news I've got to share, because you're the readers who inspired Eric Murphy Selinger of DePaul University, RomanceScholar listserv and TeachMeTonight.blogspot.com, and William A. Gleason of Princeton University to gather scholars from around the world to take part in
Yep. Romance novels are goin' to the Ivies, my Bellas, and YOU helped make it happen.
You may remember Eric and Bill from fall 2006 during RBTB "Back to School Week: Scholars on Romance." The guys were part of a group of academics or, as they're technically called, smarty pantses...Learn more about parental controls from ControlYourTV.org. | © 2008 Lifetime Entertainment Services.
