Marjorie Liu's got quite a reputation. Which is to say, everyone who meets her — from fans to fellow authors — finds her bright, lovely and refreshingly genuine. In fact, Liu's such a sweetheart, it's hard to believe she writes such wicked twisty "paranormal' romance — and wraps it in exotic science fiction and urban fantasy.

In addition to her fab new Dirk and Steele series romance novel, "The Last Twilight," Liu's sci-fi fantasy book "The Iron Hunt" comes out in July. In it, the tattoos covering the body of a female demon hunter turn into demons at night.

See? For such a nice girl, she writes some wonderfully bent stories.

Perhaps one of the most unique things about Liu is the way she draws on her mixed-race background — and multi-cultural characters — to offer readers of varied ethnicity a place at the "romance table." And that's just plain wonderful.
