While the wives of other musicians are typically hanging out backstage, partying and often calling attention to themselves in the tabloids (or on reality TV), Skye Hoppus is making quite a different kind of splash. She's on a mission to make pregnant women everywhere look fabulous. What inspired her to want to turn expecting women into fashion icons? Her own pregnancy.

During her first trimester, Skye was touring with her husband (Mark Hoppus of Blink 182) and his band and couldn't find anything sexy, let alone rock 'n' roll–worthy, to wear. It was then that she decided to launch her own maternity clothing line. "None of the maternity stores carried clothing that made me feel like me," she says. "I didn't want my own sense of style and individuality to change just because I was pregnant." These days, the line, which is aptly named Childish Clothing, has been seen on some of Hollywood's hottest moms, including Gwyneth Paltrow, Jennifer Garner, Courteney Cox and Heidi Klum.

But putting out a maternity and children's line was just the beginning for Hoppus in this journey. She also penned a book titled "Rock Star Momma", which is a one-of-a-kind guide to looking gorgeous through all nine months of pregnancy. (And anyone who has been pregnant knows that's not always an easy task!) While the book covers fashion advice from Hoppus, it also includes suggestions from celebs like Mariska Hargitay, Joely Fisher and Jennie Garth, as well as tips about well-being, beauty, baby-shower etiquette, hospital-bag essentials and fitness. "There were many books out about the medical side of being pregnant," says Hoppus. "But I felt that there needed to be a book out about all the tips your best friend would give you regarding everything else related to being pregnant. Women need to know things like how granny panties will be your best friend for the first six weeks after you give birth."

Here's a little sampling from the book that shows more of Hoppus' insight and humor when it comes to being pregnant and fashionable: "Boxy and unshapely tees are never flattering, but if you are starting to get mushy around the middle, relaxed, languid ones are. Just don't wear your tees so loose that the whole world wonders what you're trying to hide, especially if the nonpregnant you usually sticks to form-fitting shapes ... you wouldn't want to blow your little secret too soon."

The woman dishing out this advice is a far cry from the tomboy she once was way back when growing up in Orange County, California. "I was the farthest thing from a girly girl," she says about her childhood. "I owned more cargo pants than anyone else I knew." But the Pepperdine University grad eventually broke out of this boyish style when she got into the music world — she spent close to a decade spearheading the West Coast Music office at MTV in Santa Monica, California. "My fashion sense was definitely influenced by the Southern California lifestyle and even more so by the music scene. I was destined to marry someone like Mark, with a cutting-edge style. He wore Pumas to our wedding!"

Today, Hoppus lives in Los Angeles with her husband and their four-year-old son. While she seems to have it all — a successful business and a loving family — there are some days she has trouble balancing everything at once. "It's hard trying to fit everything into one day, but my husband has taught me that the most important thing is to live life in a joyous way, and that means learning to roll with the punches." Is she able to do that? "Most of the time," she says with a laugh.

As for whether or not she'd like to get pregnant again — which would probably influence a whole lot more of her fashions — Hoppus says she and her husband would love to have more children. She adds, "You never know what the future holds!"
